The Economy of Airgunning....so how is your Job?

Paramedic here. In my area of the country, good-paying municipal jobs in my career field are few and far between, and the competition to get them is fierce. Private-sector paramedic jobs very rarely pay well (enough to live on, but not much left for luxuries), so that's limited me to low-priced springers and economy pellets. Thankfully my guns like them.
It also means that I rely on my magnum springers to supplement my diet with wild protein. Thankfully, small game is abundant in all seasons, be it rabbit or pigeons. Perhaps the next round of testing/hiring in two years will land me a good union job, but until then I'll continue to keep my head low and my aim steady.

I work for a publicly owned utility, that supplies electricity, water, and steam to its owners, we have 2 large coal fired power plants and 1 natural gas fired co-gen., I work in the largest and oldest of the 3 plants that is scheduled to be offline no later than 2020, with no replacement as of yet? ( the coal industry is getting hammered right now, and I feel for all the miners and other workers related to this industry.) I have been fortunate and blessed to be in this line of work for 31 yrs. with no plans to retire yet (3 kids in college! ) I just hope I can see it through right here were I am now.

I'm a bit of a Jack of All Trades in my company. I was the IT guy for 10+ years, but I also worked as a supervisor, and later manager in plastic fabrication/extrusion. I filled in for the HR Manager for a while while she was on maternity leave, then hired my own replacement when she decided she wanted to be a fulltime mom. I also did a short stint as a "Kaizen Promotion Officer" basically trying to figure out how to do everything better, cheaper, faster. Currently I'm working in the quality department. Business is booming for us. If Boeing and/or Airbus do well, we do well. If the economy tanks and airlines decide to retrofit their older planes instead of replacing them, we still do well.

I am a physicist, but worked mostly as a software engineer for the first 15 years of my career. Then I spent four years doing robotics research (Microsoft, Redmond), and quit two years ago to work on my own robotics startup. Busy with getting ready to manufacture and sell the robot I designed. Hoping for income this year, as I've been burning our fat reserves at an incredible rate. Having 3 young kids does not help with either the burn rate or the time to get work done.
Airguns is a hobby that I used to have since I was a teen (44 now). My passion about the sport has flared up a few times over the past few decades, cooling of gradually in between. The latest 'erruptipn' which started two years ago, shows no signs of tapering off.
