Tuning The full steroid

Just sent my 392 out to MAC1 for the full steroid treatment/ trigger job/ bolt/ and peep sight. I’m thinking about making a YouTube video on it once I get it back in 3 months or so as I can not find any real numbers on the tune r/t velocities and what not. Also thinking about giving it a try at informal HFT. Anyone have any experience in this?

The only person I can remember using a pumper in FT is George Gardner. He did it to prove it could be done, although I believe he used a Daystate. And he shot well, as always.

With a steroid, I would predict a lot of quivering muscles and a lot of timers going off. Go for it!

Good for you! What year was your 392 made? Curious because I’ve got a 392PA from the mid 90’s that’s bone stock besides a little polishing on the sear and a peep sight. I might have to steroid it too based on what results you get with your rifle. Looking forward to seeing the video!

Mine was one of the last wood stocked ones probably made in 2017. It stopped pumping up, every time I would pump the rifle the air would exit the barrel, so I figured if it needs a rebuild might as well do it right. I definitely will record the rifle from the unboxing and forward, really looking forward to the hole experience!!

We used a couple of pumpers back in the early 90s for FT. There weren't many pcp's yet and no monster scopes for a while. The big problem you will have is SEEING the kz. You will have a tough time hitting what you can't see. My vision is generally considered excellent and was possibly even better then, but when the kz's got smaller, it became pretty difficult in some lighting conditions to make the out through the peep. Tim does a great job on those and they are pretty good shooting. The biggest advantage isn't max power, but that it achieves the same power with fewer pumps.

George used a Japanese Sharp pumper, did pretty well.

Try extending pump handle all the way and generously lubing pump with Alphabet org Auto Trans stop leak quick fix pump many times to work it in and may be instant or take a day or so just keep pumping it in and cock the rifle b4 pumping.

Not gonna hurt since you think you're gonna get it rebuilt anyway. Better trying than to not have a shootable gun.

When I used to go to garage sales and get FREE or dirt cheap $5 or $10 broken airguns I always bring the Alphabet org Auto Trans stop leak quick fix in an eye dropper bottle.

Most only needed lubing.

What I always liked about the steroid treatment is the same concept for flat topping a 1322/1377. Less pumps = more power than OEM velocity.

6 steroid/flat top pumps = 8-10 (more or less) OEM pumps.

No,

Alphabet org is not really very good for the Steroid compared to regular non-detergent 30W. But Tim uses and swears by his own lube called “secret sauce”
