I feel this is a bit silly, even disregarding me being locked to .177 then i / most i suppose can easy do what i / they would like to do with 4500 PSI
Okay if you are a fill and walk shooter then sure a bigger fill will probably give you more shots on a fill, but i shoot at the bench connected to a big bottle.

BUT ! i am not the kind of guy that will be stopping others in what they like to do.

If they had a regulator that can handle 480bar then the guns would shoot the same but get 2X the shots per fill, maybe more that 2X. I think that would be cool.

My PCP air filter is only rated to 5000 PSI so I could technicly die by using that on a 480 bar gun. They will have to make new hoses and filters for us. But the actual steel braided Compressor hose is rated for 7000+ psi.
 
Yeah i dident even think about the regulators handling it, CUZ i am not sure a unregulated rifle would handle that, or it probably could, but it might then be a actual upper body workout cocking the damn thing :)

I think i will stay where i am, even if by some miracle i should be able to shoot .22 or larger

I remember back in 2012 shooting the Cyclone, pretty much every single god damn fill i shot so low that i was going " WTH the damn rifle broke" only to find out i was way low on pressure.
Of course me having many filled magazines for the Cyclone did not help in keeping track of shot count.
So much prefer to shoot tethered, this also mean i can make do with pipe reservoir rifles, which for looks i prefer over the bottle rifles.
 
What almost all people don't realize is that air doesn't compress in a linear fashion. The common misperception is that double the pressure means double the shots. It doesn't work that way in reality. Even if there was a regulator that could function to reduce 7000 psi to a useable pressure air compresses in a logarithmic scale. The higher the pressure the less air will compress. It's the reason that a 9L tank actually only holds 88cf at 4500 psi rather than the 98cf it would contain if air compressed at a linear rate. This means is that if there was a cylinder that held 7,000 psi it doesn't provide twice the number of shots as a cylinder that holds 3,500 psi. It would only add about 1.6X the number of shots even if a regulator existed that could reduce extreme pressure to a useable level. The volume of air held in a given space at any pressure can be calculated using Van DerWaal's equation of compressibility for gases.
