FX The FX Cyclone

I saw in the post of 'what was your first pcp' that a couple of guys at least mentioned the FX Cyclone. I was wondering how many still have them. I just sold mine that I'd had for quite a while, simply because I didn't shoot it much any more. It's a .22, and I called AOA, a lone time ago, and bought almost all the barrels and extra stuff they had, and then called FX USA and bought a bunch of left over stuff from them too. I had two or three syn stocks, 4 or 5 barrels, both ST and rifled, and lots of parts, so my neighbor is set for life with it.

FX has made some of the most reliable pcp rifles I've used, and the Cyclone started it all for me. I never had any problems beyond a leak with it, and they are easy to work on. I've moved on to Royale's now, and the old Cyclone just didn't come out much, but it started my love for FX rifles. Simple, reliable and accurate as all get out, what more do you need in an airgun. I never did get around to putting a regulator in it, but one of my Royales is not regulated either, and it's just not a problem, it shoots great and has good shot count, they same as the Cyclone.

Anyone out there still shooting them?

I still have my .22 Cyclone, my friend have the same year but the Cutlass, with a different stock and the cocking mechanism, otherwise the 2 share all parts.

I have not shot mine for a while as i have been deep into .177, actually my .22 is illegal now, well at least for me to own.
But its mine, it was legal when i got it, and CUZ they changed the law due to some punk kids shooting at PPL with a .177, well i can not be bothered or respect that law even if i otherwise encourage abiding by laws. where you are or visit.

And i am not paying what was then pretty much the price of a new rifle to have the .22 changed to .177 ( Danish gun smiths do NOT come cheap nor did the caliber change kit from FX )
And back then my other option was to hand in my 1 year old .22, i assume for destruction,,,, O hell no.

Edit: with recent upgrades on the scope front, i now have 3 scopes and 3 rifles, but i have not yet gotten around to put the old Hawke scope back on the Cyclone, but i recon come summer i will get around to that, and then i might as well dial it in and put a little JSB lead downrange.

Never had a Cyclone but am a diehard Bobcat, Boss, Royale enthusiast!! IMHO some of the BEST pellet Guns & barrels FX ever made. Their accuracy, low maintenance & repeatability still amaze me. From what I've heard about the Cyclone, it's in that same category. I don't want to tinker to have to get guns to shoot the way mine ALWAYS do. In fact, I'm heading out to one of my permissions in a minute just to put them through their paces. Always makes me smile.

Dear Sir,
I'm disassembling my FXCYCLONE to replace the O-ring.
But I can't remove the barrel. I removed the two top screws, but even when I pull it, it only comes out about 3 mm.
Is this just because the O-ring is stuck? Or is there some other problem?

I'm worried about the barrel bending. I'd appreciate it if you could tell me the best way to pull it out.

Dear Sir,
I thought I had put all the O-rings back in, but the air leak won't stop.
It leaks about 5 bar every day.
I'd like to disassemble the cyclone again to check it, but is it safe to remove the cylinder without removing all the air?
It is not safe to remove the tube unless it is empty
That is an accident waiting to happen
Degass the gun!
If you are uncertain how to do it, ask.

I had a few leaks on my Cyclone, mainly the fill probe hole was leaking.

There is a complete rebuild kit for the Cyclone, have everything literally, but i never used all the parts
My breech O-ring have never blown but i did replace it after my friend borrowed my barrel as his did blow on his Cutlass, so changing one i changed the other one too.
Thats after sitting idle for the better part of a decade, things do get a little stiff, and if you are not generous with lubrication, well my friend had the result of that.
If you have a leak out the barrel, you probably need to change the firing valve, which is also in the repair kit.

Woa pardner!
I'd let my friend sleep over at my girlfriend's house before I'd lend him my barrel

I also previously owned a FX Cyclone in .22. Great gun. I actually owned a Logun Solo made by FX even before the Cyclone. Solid, solid PCP they both were!

They are accurate and have Lothar Walther barrels. No reg, tube guns. What goes with no reg and a tube gun is relatively low shot counts (if tuned for good power). If you want the least amount of extreme spread, due to riding the “bell curve”, that all well tuned non regulated platforms have, it takes some figuring. An accurate usable extreme spread, for example, is 30 fps. This is manageable for precision and ethical hunting.

The Royale; this one made quite the impression with its debut! It’s a bottle gun so now you had a lot more acceptable shots within the “sweet spot”. To figure the sweet spot of a non regulated PCP, one must find the proper fill pressure to not cause valve-lock and also find the refill pressure at the dropping off of the curve. BTW, the Daystate Air Wolf MCT was also a non regulated bottle gun out at this time. It used Map Compensation electronics to produce a crazy long and usable bell curve. The Air Wolf and Royale had a good rivalry at the time.

Now regulated platforms are the norm. In fact, they can be had quite affordably. It’s a great hobby/sport to have been in and see grow and become more & more efficient. That said, the old PCPs can still run with the best of them if you can surf 🏄‍♂️ the curve properly! A big perk, no regulator to creep or fail 👍🏻

Dear Sir,
This is the part that fits into the barrel housing.
I think 63 and 67 are O-rings that are inserted inside the tube, but does it mean which one depends on the thickness of the barrel?
So for a 5.5mm barrel, would it be item No. 5112 (5.28*1.78 NBR70)?View attachment 520771
FX part # 5112, 5.28*1.78 NBR 70 can be found as a standard inch O-ring #009 NBR 70

Thank you for prompt reply.
If my barrel is 5.5mm, I wouldn't use a 67 (O-ring No.2529 4.3*1.5) here, right?

I don’t have and have never had a Cyclone but I did buy an older Cutlass this year. Basically the same gun in a different stock. Took a little $ to get it in prime shooting shape, but well worth it. It does have one cool feature that I never use and that is the biathlon cocking lever. Pull it back until it cocks and just let it go. Closes itself. Maybe there was a use for it but I don’t like things slamming around like that.
There is a unique pleasure in an unregulated gun. Fill this one to 220 bar, shoot 4 mags and refill. Super easy on air and very accurate. Murder on birds and such. The Walnut thumb hole stock, deep bluing on the metal and brass highlights make for a very attractive old school PCP.
