The MANY faces of Field Target

Huh :ROFLMAO:

Indeed the faces we get to shoot at are many !! While many FT clubs around the country use solid color face plates ( Black, Blue, White being most common )
We in the SVFTC ... or should I say our target maintenance fellow likes to keep these faces a tad more interesting. Easy to range on with so much texture to get a focus, YET very difficult to see misses on many of them. 10 years of target gathering has our clubs faces being many !!

Are we having fun ... yes we are !!

That is a fine collection, and kudos to the folks that keep em working! I saw the albino arma-squir-rat and appreciated the helpful hint someone added. I'm sure people see it and it gets in their head for sure. Up in Olympia, they have a pair of crow targets(Heckle and Jeckle), often roosting together on the same lane, sporting their 3/8" kill zones. They sit there silently, taunting all that take aim. I've finally attended an outdoor match in Brush Prarie, Wa, and when I got to a lane with Crows...instant PTSD.
I always remember the sage advice I heard hear, its only about the shot you're currently shooting, thats the one that matters.

Have any of these field targets ever been made with head shots instead of center-of-body shots?
Not that I've ever seen. Tho said, there some targets out there where the KZ is very near a top edge of face plate.
A coiled up snake is one i recall seeing .. likely others.
Likely reason for center mass KZ's is having area surrounding able to show where hit when KZ is missed.
A head shot target would provide very little feedback to the shooter IMO.

Match Director Motorhead reminds us ours are "fun shoots" so once in a while just for fun (and by accident of course) targets with KZ's the likes of the albino rat have been found at ranges a little too close to focus on. Betcha didn't practice THAT distance at home guys and gals, buwa-ha-ha-ha-ha! Many thanks to Mr. Scott Schneider for not just being the match director but also the custodian of all the targets, clamps and winders which look great for every match and function fabulously despite our worst efforts to destroy them every month.
