The new Atlas CAL bipod

I use one of the shameless knock-offs. It is one of the Green Blob Bipods which cost about 40 bucks. The only downside I have seen is that repetedly panning causes the tension nut to loosen. This can be resolved via a plastic washer or a set screw in the main locking nut. I feel like the actual Atlas Bipod does a better tilt function too. The tilt feature interests me less, as I am normally shooting from a level surface, and don't want to worry about scope cant.

I have lots of cheap bipods and expensive bipods. Atlas and Accu -Tac are my favorites. I really don't use the panning feature at all for the long range shooting I do with rifles or for the shooting I do with my PCP's. Some love the planning feature, which I understand, but I rarely use it, for me, it's one more knob to wiggle loose. I have other bipods if I need to pan. The more steady and locked down I can get it, the better and the Atlas BT-65 CAL is supposed to be great. The legs don't rotate either which is another plus in my book. Thanks, Kevin

The CAL version was going theough a redesign according to an email I received from BT industries. I don’t know if they got the design issue sorted out yet or not. Product was put on hold for a undefined time to allow reworks, and get the new version back to retaillers.

I too am interested in this bipod even since it first came out.

This info came to me from BT from a ‘news announcement’ email I gor from them for being on their mailing list.
