Taipan The Saharan Mutant

I got it together tonight and think it looks really nice. I have a DFL LDC adapter coming which I'll leave black along with a Pugio I'll swap between this gun and my Long. It should look nice all together.View attachment 551273
nice job . thought i would prefer a bit darker shade

I used the rifle I painted tan as an experiment platform for camo with a fabric laundry bag. It’s tan base and brown with the pattern. All krylon camo paints. That Hawke scope is now completely back to original black. The spray paint is easy to remove.

Some cool looking guns I like them! Glad to see others who have done the same!

I'm not entirely sure why honestly but have always been drawn to it. Lots of guys like beautiful walnut and laminate stocks while I prefer a tan look. I think it gives it a softer look than just a solid black gun or something and where i shoot more blends into the surrounding. Also in the sun is much cooler. Have a Tikka T1X with a KRG Bravo FDE stock which I love too.

Lol my 2 daughters are in a stage of coloring and painting and putting stickers on everything so I'm sure they'd love that.
It's looking great.

There was a guy on SH that let his daughter do that to his Remington 700 custom, which is where I got the idea.

When my daughter was young, being small for her age, I cut, ground, and sanded, the wood stock on a Marlin youth 22rf then used pink paint as well as pink fleckstone on it as the stock finish. It was much lighter and had the correct LOP for her.

A while later when she was 12 she got a 2nd place using it at our clubs kids match.

Kinda wish I had kept it for my grandson, but repainted a color like yours is.

I like that finish it looks like it took along time but sounds like it was easy?

Yeah that's a good idea. We have 2 daughters but just had a son so not sure id do one of my nicer guns that way. I guess I can get them something like a red Ryder to start and let them paint it to how they would like it. That's a fun idea

Perfect, they'd love that!

Cal Ranch had refurb RR's for $20 around 6 years ago and a bunch of us bought them for comps, then the RR's ended up getting modded quite a bit. One guy had a laser attached, a RD on top, lead balls in the tube to make it heavier, a trigger job, and stock engraving, lol!
