The STUD Ultrapod, Adjustable Rear Shooting Rest for Benchrest Shooting

STUD of Rochester, NY has just released a new product for the Benchrest Shooter, the STUD Ultrapod.

What is does - The STUD Ultrapod is a precision elevating device, that allows the bench rest shooter the ultimate in vertical, point of impact control. It is an easy to stow device, that replaces "squeeze bags" and fixed rear stock adjustment devices etc. It easily stows in your range bag and allows very precise control over the shooters vertical point of impact.

Why we made it - Doug, the owner of STUD likes to "play shoot" benchrest even though he is not very good at it (actually, he stinks at it). However in 2020, after trying every kind of squeeze bag, stock elevator and rest he could find, none really "worked". The squeeze bag worked best, but he got tired of "resetting" it after every shot. The first prototypes were made in winter of 2020 and the final design was completed this spring, with patents etc. recently filed. They are currently available in limited quantities, on the STUD site now.

How we did it - The STUD Ultrapod final design ended up with a series of large diameter "sleeves" that telescope within one another on a series of (3) helical threads. This afforded the stability required for a rock solid base and a 2" travel. The Ultrapod also features a bubble level that can be zeroed to horizon with (3) stainless levelers. The top platform features a roller bearing platform that stays stationary as the elevator ring is rotated.

Pyramyd Cup - Please visit us at the Pyramyd Cup in August. We will be there under the STUD tent with all our products. We are looking forward to meeting you in person!

Have you figured how much elevation travel at 50 and 100 yards?
No, those calculations are based on the distance from the feet of the bipod etc. to the point of contact on the stock, and each customers dimension will essentially be different. The total Ultrapod travel is 52mm (2.0") if you care to do the math for your rifle etc. Thanks!

Pretty neat.

My rifle are propped up on all manners of things when i shoot due to the uphill nature of my friends place, adding to that shooting from a low picnic bench style table.
So under the buttock of my maverick, well i have a 3 X 3 and a 2 X 4 piece of wood.
In the front i have my caldwell thingy propped up on a 5 x 5" with a plate on top of it as otherwise the legs on the caldwell rest can not be there.

Very Ghetto for this Danish peashooter, but i still make Swiss cheese out of my targets, even if they are a lone way away for a .177 caliber

Gotta remember to take a picture one day, im sure PPL can get a giggle on over my setup

I am looking forward to we getting some proper benches whipped up.

From my experience with STUD, if it ain’t right, they will make it right!

Well by the ignorance of the response I’d say there isn’t a warranty
Well, I disagree. Yes, he didn't directly answer the question. But I didn't like the unit for my application and told him. He not only said no problem, send it back, but he sent me a pre-paid UPS label and refunded my money the same day before I even shipped the unit. Can't ask for better than that!
