The Sub $20 Airgun Moderator. It's actually REALLY Good! (Full Review)

My Buck Rail (177-22) mod was delivered today. (Right now my rifle is set up shooting 177 slugs) I'm not too much into 3D printed moderators but this one isn't too shabby. Looks pretty decent. I quickly installed it (RTI compact) and headed out to check POI and listen to the sound... I had a Donny tatsu (25-30 on it....as I swop on a 25 barrel when needed) the tatsu quiets the 25 pretty good.. but not so much for the 177 slugger. As to be expected.. the Buck-Rail however does a fine job. Noticably more quiet.. but the B-R is sized correctly.. about the same diameter but longer than the tatsu by about 2 inches... So it should be more silent. The POI on the elevation did not change between the two but the B-R mod did cause to to shoot to the right a tad bit..
I only tested it at 40 yards today but it seems my groups even tighten up...or I'm just having a good shooting day... Either way I'm happy with the Buck-Rail moderator and would not hesitate to buy another..

As for the Airgun Capital moderator... I'm still waiting for it to be shipped..

Airgun Capital.. best of luck to ya.. here in a few more days... Your gonna ship my order or refund my money.

@kaylaindy Nate.. buddy you my wanna delete your plug for Airgun Capital off your channel... Their not Worth it..

I have a buck rail for my Prod and I like it. Seems to make the gun quieter and it wasn't very noisy to start with. Seems like it might group better too. But I let the gun drop off the couch to the floor and it broke. I epoxyed it back together but haven't shot through it yet. But this experience makes me a bit leery with printed moderators that project beyond the end of the gun.

On my P35s I use printed moderators which work great and fit inside the shroud. So they are protected.

There are a couple of ways to prevent that problem with FDM printing. The moderator can be printed horizontal on the bed. That causes the print layers to run from end to end on the moderator but it makes it harder to get a good print. The moderator can be printed as one piece and glued inside a carbon fiber or thin PVC tube. That adds weight and getting the wall thickness requires some experimentation. You can also print the parts and glue the whole thing up inside a CF or PVC tube.

After a week of it not being shipped I emailed them and told them to cancel the order. They replied that it had already been shipped, BS. The day after they replied they shipped it. IDK, I hope it isn't a honey pot and a guy gets arrested for buying a silencer without the permit. They do call it a silencer and not a moderator.
I got that same load of bull...
I ordered the 3rd...got tracking numbers the 8th.. tracking just shows label was made..
I contacted them this morning ( 17th) asking for a refund... And wouldn't you know it...their reply was they couldn't do it because it had shipped... I sent them my tracking numbers and told them I don't think it has .. and to refund my money.. they come back with... I'm sorry about the inconvenience and if nothing has happened by tomorrow that they will ship me another.
I told them if nothing has happened by tomorrow just send me a refund... And I get the same ole crap... They can't do that because one has already supposedly shipped..

Feller's.... I wouldn't order from airgun Capital on a dare.... You've been warned if you do... Pay a tad bit extra for a cheap moderator and get the Buck Rail

Update... Airgun Capital shipped my item.. tracking shows it's arriving Tuesday...I got a email from them apologizing and that I was receiving a full refund as well. I checked my account and I was refunded the full amount.. so they did go above and beyond to make things right..
I guess pointing them to this thread and giving them some advice might have helped a bit. I figured they had good intentions and were just confused on execution. Who knows they might be interested in an improved design ;)

I too had a similar experience with them. Ordered on March 5th, waited a week no shipping/tracking so i emailed them. They sent me tracking number but USPS shows the item was still in pre-shipping. Another week goes by, USPS still showing pre-shipping so I emailed them again. No response completely ignored. I left a 1 star review only because 0 wasn't an option. Days later I noticed my 1 star review was deleted from their website and order was finally in transit. Received item yesterday. Just like someone else mentioned above, the holes look like they do not line up.

Well......they say that you get what you pay for. I bit. Purchased this moderator in .25 cal and immediately went from 3/8" group at 40 yds to not even hitting paper (14×18) at 25 yds. I gave up. It's not like it's going to improve. I took it off, and threaded my old Neil Clague unit on, and was immediately back in business. Results speak loudest.

Their design definitely needs improvement. I tested it against the Buck Rail.. the Buck Rail silenced my rifle much much better.. my groups stayed the same between the two.
I'm using it on a 177 slug shooter pushing 27fpe. I bet if I tried the Airgun Capital moderator on something under 20fpe it probably would do fine.

I have a Buck Rail on my Akela the forst 2 were clipping pellets. I suspect alayer shift during printing on those 2 it can easily happen I have a few 3d printers and know things go sideways time to time. The third one however works flawless and my groups are even tighter. I have a theory that the moderator help with the stabilization ofther it leaves the barrel for the micro second. I have a video about it on my Youtube. Anyway Buckrail took care of my issue and the third is a charm.

Got the chance to try out the 25 cal. moderator today. (n)clipping 👎

Get yourself a chain saw file. Slip the moderator over it and spin it against that. It is just the right thing for cleaning out a tube like that. It doesn't take off too much at a time. If there is "fuzz" visible get a lighter and just VERY BRIEFLY (maybe one second) move the moderator over it like a chimney. If your threads are printed and not metal that will not work as the threads will suffer.
