Theoben Custom barrel adapter for FX liner

A little back story.

I have a Theoben MKII that I got a while ago in .25 cal that has been an absolute blast. It originally went through Allen Z a few years before I grabbed it. Once I got it I was shooting it and finding something was off. After trying to get ahold of Allen, with no luck, I went looking and found Martin. After a quick talk with Martin my rifle was packed up and on its way down to him for him to do a complete reseal and fix anything that needed it.

He was able to get the gun shooting as it should have been. He added a '"V" block for filling without removing the bottle, as ell as adding a regulator. Once I got the rifle back I removed the steel bottle and added a larger carbon.

Once the rifle was done Martin called ans we chatted for a while. He was happy to find one of the rifles he originally built back in the UK still shooting and getting used.

Now for today.......I have another gun that is a higher powered 25 cal and don't really need a low powered 25. So I got to looking for a 22cal barrel and bits to get shooting. I couldn't find a barrel, and being as I wanted to tinker, I started drawing up an adapter to be able to use the FX liner system.

After a week of playing and talking with my machinist we came up with a design and started cutting.

Here is what I have so far. A little more tweaking and playing and I will have a functional part that will be able to swap barrels as needed.

Heck if I can get this to work, a receiver would be easy in the mill I have at the shop. Just need to convince the boss people would buy them. Maybe not titanium, but something cool. A brass rapid...lol
Well if you go down this road...
Have a talk to Chip Smith.. a.k.a. csdilligaf
He machined the enhanced receiver out of Titanium and aluminum...

Btw... Good luck reaming for the barrel liners.... that internal O-ring groove will be fun....

Got my 22 cal probe for the rifle this weekend so I can continue the project. Last week I was able to bore out the inside of the adapter to just under the size of the fx liner. A little more work for a nice snug fit, and then to open up the breech side.

Will also work on getting the correct liner and barrel parts tomorrow. So hopefully soon I will have something put together to shoot

More pictures will be posted tomorrow! My final reamer showed up so I will be able to do the pellet side of the part.

I worked on the barrel side and have a nice snug fit with no o-rings needed. Everything is centered and looking good so far. Now just to finish the pellet probe side. Everything is looking to line up and it should work, now just to see how well it works.

Easier to convince if you would do it for a bunch of other makes! 🤔

Hmm.
