Theoben Theoben Evolution: Pellet Testing Day 2. Norma GT vs JSB RS

Day 2 of culling ammo for the .22 Evolution. It was a nice day today. Little cooler in the shade with a very light 1-2mph breeze. Today's testing went much better than yesterdays. All groups (except one because apparently counting to 5 is hard) were 5 shot groups done at 35yds.

The Norma pellets were the clear winner here today and also the best to date. Out of 5 groups, the average group size was 0.45" CTC with one group even hitting 1/4"! A full quarter inch better that the JSB 15.89gr! Small asterisk on the field though. There is a red "x" on target #5. I have no idea what happened there. I pulled the trigger and the next thing I know I'm watching a pellet corkscrew into the target. I'm choosing not to count it. I called a mulligan and took a 6th shot.

The JSB RS pellets didn't fare quite as well as the Normas but did still manage an average of 0.61" across 5 groups. There is an asterisk next to my 5th and final group (target #7) because it shot abnormally well compared to the first 4. I am going to retest the RS pellets from that fresh tin later on. Hoping for some gold but will be happy for silver.

Each time I see one of these Theobens I'm reminded why I like them soooo much...they are very pleasing to the eye!

Looks good the next time you get the opportunity reverse the order to remove shooter fatigue. I'm impressed that you shot several groups in a row of each before analysing.
Thats a valid point that I hadn't considered. The RS pellets didn't really do terrible to begin with but they were done last and I was definitely starting to tire out some. I'll throw another set of them at paper this weekend at some point.

Now you got it working for you. What do you think of the gas ram deniers?
When can I have an Evolution? In .177
Between you and I, I'm just going to nod my head in agreement until I've managed to collect the ones I want. We don't need any more competition trying to hunt these guns down 😆

You just missed a .177 in the classifieds earlier this week! Or are you the lucky guy who grabbed it??

If that shoots as good as it looks, you've got a winner. I am intrigued by norma pellets. Have only heard good things about them. Hmmmm
They're worth giving a try but they are a bit pricey these days. I bought the stash I have on the shelf 6 months ago for 3.99/tin. I realized I was running low so I hopped on over to the Norma site and now they're almost $9/tin. Sounds cheap until you realize there's only 200 in a tin. They offer free shipping at $100 which helps.

Its absolutely a work of art. Thanks for sharing it!
i was on a UK chat and this link came up only 6 ever made .
Notice the statement says "in this configuration"..HE=high efficiency...6 made out of 36ish total FT Imperator SLR88 .177s in that HE configuration using the higher pressure gas ram...not considered a positive thing...the older non HE were considered superior like this one...only a hand full in the USA of any SLR88s, these FT models are super rare...the Ultra Carbine SLR 88s with short barrel only six were made.
