There are many Beeman P17's, but this one is mine

Beeman P17: $34.00

RWS 4X32 scope with rings: Free (came as a bonus with a previous rifle purchase)

Bullz Eye Pro Optical booster with Marksmanship Positioning device: $160.00+

Tin of JSB Stratons: $10.00

Satisfaction in knowing you will hit whatever you're aiming at with pinpoint accuracy from 10-20 yards: PRICELESS

It's all been said before, nothing new under the sun re: the merits of this Beeman sanctioned Chinese made clone of the Beeman P3 (HW40). On a whim I scoped it, decided to but a Bullz Eye Pro Optical Booster to good use, and haven't been able to put it down since!

What work did I do to the pistol? Barrel: thorough cleaning followed by fire lapping a few JB Bore Bright coated pellets followed by denatured alcohol saturated patches, compressed air, dry clean patches, more air and finally a patch with a couple drops of WD40. I also wiped off the excess factory grease from the exposed piston (when the pistol is fully extended and ready to be cocked closed). Mysterious chinese lube replaced with 2 drops of STP (blue bottle) spread with a lint free patch and excess wiped away over next few shots. This alone reduced cocking effort easily by at least 30%. AT LEAST 30%. Can now cock with 3 fingers pressing down just fwd of the rear sight, with minimal pressure against the scope. Brilliant!

Targets from a rest at 10 yards: ragged hole, almost boring. With this pistol you just got to look around and hit stuff😉🤓

Dandelions: obliterated.

Vein bifurcations in leaves: punched

Grasshoppers (oh the carnage): using taco hold from 10-15 yards, the JSB Stratons are lasers. Headshot City, all day long!

I have one with a BSA Edge scope, 2X. Shoots fine, but always difficult to load. I much prefer my Beeman P1.

Nice looking P1. I find both are similar for loading, but the P1 is way easier to cock. What kind of grips are on your P1? I'd like to get some original Beeman combat grips for my Santa Rosa P1😉

Agreeing that the HW45 is easier to load, even more so when a optic is added but you will never put pellet on pellet ....or shoot heads off Grasshoppers with one...Did manage to get a 1/2 inch group going with a tuned one once but it wasn't repeatable ...My average best groups were closer to an inch to 1.2 inches at 10 Mts. Always a flier present, due to the shot cycle if I not absolutely clinical with my hold repeatability.

WOW! I got a P17 this summer and have been having a blast. I plan on doing some minor tuning (mostly grease cleanup and barrel polishing) this winter. Love the scope but have held off as the cocking is brutal. Thanks to you I have a great idea for reducing the effort (clean off the Chinese marvelous mystery grease). Accuracy on mine is amazing at 1/2" at 10 yards but I see now it can get so much better. For a sub $30 gun (they have climbed a bit this summer to almost $35 but I'm sure will go back down this winter) I would be hard pressed to find it's match.
