If this is what OP really wants to do, then I would recommend the DNT 225. It does everything reasonably at a low price for short distances.

I have had the DNT 225 and have the PARD Landsat 640. TBH, sweeping with the gun all the time to find the critters is a PITA! After all these scopes, I think my old self likes to find it with a monocular and then shoot it - with your scope of choice for night work!

And I think the multi-spectral are definitely the way to go! The DNT 225 is definitely the most for the money now!

I have not looked into monoculars. I already have a night vision that works well enough. I just hate looking through it prolonged to view the target area. I thought a thermal would open up my surrounding more. But a monocular may not be a bad idea.

I absolutely love my scanner, I use it all the time. I also have a dnt225. If you have a nv scope adding a scanner would be a good option. I use mine almost every night.

Here's a shot of the Hikmicro 1280x1024 at 8 feet away! It's also this clear at 300 yards! @Bander124 It is out of your price range... The good news is that they are all getting better and less expensive as time moves on!

Who deals hikmicro in the states? I’m jealous, the 1280 looks so good and I know the eyepiece looks better then videos or pics.

A scanner would have way more uses than just a scope. I’m always tracking down a cost or some live stock.

No one sells them over here. They are marketed under AGM and Infiray. They are all made in the same factory in China. The dealers over here want $2k more for the same scope than over in the UK and EU!

@Bander124 - The problem with ALL digital scopes is the "Blurr Eye" you get with looking at them longer than a few minutes! It doesn't matter if they are NV or thermal, you get eye "burn in" due to starring at the tiny, very bright screen. So long hunts that require frequent scanning suck and really provide increased fatigue when you are out on a hunt. That is why scanning with a monocular - and being able to easiy switch eyes now and then - prolongs one's ability to "stay the distance" for a lengthy night hunt. I will get another monocular just for this reason. Frequent scanning is required for most successful hunts.
