They almost made it legal...

Numerous news articles popping up, on CUE as it were, citing damage and shootings relative to air rifles/pellet guns/bb guns. You know, almost like if the news was "structured" to introduce the next excuse so that they can claim the public is just slathering for more laws in this area.
It is almost painful to watch, and once you are awake to the create a problem-wait for the outrage-then provide your "solution", you cannot unsee what is being done to us.

Sorry but this made me laugh out loud. I thought at first you meant airguns specifically. I mean there is no way even the peoples republic of Illinois would ban deer hunting with PB rifles?? I’m actually still in disbelief that was a thing although I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. I’m sorry you are dictated by a bunch of moronic big city dwellers. Why I despise everything about large cities to my core. Unfortunately Michigan is becoming the same. Although way too hot much of the time soon Florida will be the only place to be. Lol

Missouri did the same . Airguns are now firearms anything bigger then .177
When did this happen?

I can't find anything of the sort, other than 40 cal minimum caliber for deer. There isn't even an age requirement in MO for airguns, which I thought was odd.

Widlwood, MO classifies 22 and larger as a firearm, but that's a municipality, so they can make their own rules per their city limit. I live in St Charles, and we can shoot on our property providing the projectile stays on your property, and you're not being a public nuisance.

Lord the laws there are unbelievable. I can't hunt in Wyoming with a air gun (not large game anyways)... But the laws are fairly friendly here. Sounds a little tyrannical down there
This is what you get when you have collage educated idiots trying to think and trying to impress their boss.

Yeah, I don't know what the heck Livefree2066 was on about, but MO hasn't changed anything about air guns besides upping the caliber from 30 to 40 for minimum on deer.

They're a new member so maybe it was just a BS post to get their count up so they can try and buy or sell. Remember, they need to be meaningful posts AND gotta wait 10 days AND then get approved by the mods.

How lame to use fps instead of fpe as a limit. I bet my FWB300S could propel a felt cleaning pellet to over 700 fps where a more powerful gun would struggle to propel the heaviest .177 slug to the same velocity. What projectile do you use to measure if you're legal?

Firing off cleaning pellets straight into the air just for the enjoyment of a supersonic "crack" is gonna land you hard time in Illinois, friend.

I guess I forgot the pre-hurdle, the FOID card...that took way too long, especially since my prints are on file with the Big 3 3 letter orgs thanks to my first card from NJ.

Edit: I forgot to mention the State Police came out to do a spot inspection on my airgun. Only the second time they've ever checked anything with him, or so he said.

So I have a NJFID to purchase / register my air rifles. All were bought as .177, though I have converted one to .25.

The FFL I use has no other customers purchasing / registering air rifles. When the Alphabet org came to inspect his books he also pulled out the page of air rifles he's registered - all mine and my wife's. The inspector told him that she didn't give a poop since air guns are not firearms.
Also, though I am not 100% certain about this part - he says that should I purchase an air rifle in another state, I don't need to register it. Only if shipped to NJ does it need to go to the FFL.
