Thinking About PCP

So I'm on the slippery slope that many of you may know. I've got my new Crosman 2240 tricked out with goodies now and I'm really enjoying the gun but.... I'm thinking about stepping up to a PCP platform. What I'm after is an entry level gut that can be modded if I so choose. A pistol that could be made into a carbine or rifle would be ideal. I had no idea there were so many makes and mods of air guns until I joined this sight. Some opinions of those more knowledgeable would be greatly appreciated. I've got my eye on the Benjamin Marauder, probably a used one since the budget for this obsession not that big.

Yup it's hard not to slip and end up on the Dark Side. But it's so much fun over here! ;^) Better watch that budget then also cuz it's really easy to go overboard once you end up in the Dark cuz the money pit is always at your fingertips.

The Crosman guns can be converted to PCP fairly easily, with a bulk set from Baker and another tube from Mountain Air or Cothran Machine has both;

and then the possibilities are endless with all of the Crosman and aftermarket parts available.

Just buying a Marauder pistol would be easier. Don't forget the pump or compressor though.

Like many I started with a hand pump. But then I went to a paintball tank and nitrogen fill from the paintball shop. Adding up the dollars spent on filling my tiny tanks I decided a Yong Heng compressor would pay for itself inside of a year. This was one of my better decisions as far as air supply goes.

So many ways to do things it can really wind you up some days. Just do it and enjoy it as you go.

Lots of Chinese stuff around but I don't mess with it unless there is nothing else around. You usually pay the price with lower quality, horrible Quality Control and parts that are most often just plain not available.

The benjamin Maurauder pistol was my first pcp just over a year ago. Now I have 7 lol including multiple FX and an Ed Gun.

They are so much fun!

I have a sick Maurauder in. 22

If you make the leap let me know I'll let it go dirt cheap to help you get to the other side under budget.

Comes as a pistol with carbine stock. I also have the adapter so you can put an AR stock on it.

DM me if interested, easy enough to fill with a hand pump

My first and only PCP that I own is a Benjamin Marauder Field and Target in .22 cal. I have no regrets buying it. I have hunted with it with great success, still shoot it fairly regularly and it is a very accurate rifle and won't break the bank as many other options out there can. For me....it fulfills all that I need out of a PCP. It can be a deep and very expensive hole getting into PCP's and many take it very deep!! Everyone has their thing so to speak and get after it!.........but the short of the long I guess is that there are sooooo many options out there. But, the Marauder is a very good option if you choose.

Good Luck

I have a Marauder and 2 Impacts. I have absolutely no regrets about the Marauder. I learned to tune on the Marauder because it has all the basic tuning settings some guns lack. However, I think next gun on my list is an Avenger. It's also fully adjustable and is getting rave reviews for good trigger, regulated, accuracy and power.

By the way, the Marauder also has an excellent trigger for a budget gun. Mine is still adjusted out of the box, good clean uptake, crisp shot. Marauder is an older, but well tried and basically bullet-proof design. The Avenger is a touch over a year old, so might still have a couple things to work out. Don't own one yet, maybe this spring. . . . . .

Don't think you can go wrong on either

i got by with a marauder .25 and 'prod' marauder pistol and a handpump for years ... anything more is being fancy more or less .. have to add a diana stormrider .177 to my list of best entry level recommends, it is as useful as the prod but in .177 which is a big deal these days .. the .25 takes power a step above the other two ... its a good beginner set and really all any growing boy needs lol ...

The Marauder it is then. Thank you guys so much for all the info! I see I made a good choice joining this sight; hopefully I can give back. I'm about to do a more permanent bolt hold open on the 2240, I'm taking pics. I had another thread using little neodymium magnets stuck to the side of the receiver, easy but not permanent. The Dark Side... nice reply biohazardman again thank you for the links.
