This Annoying Fill Probe Issue...?

This photo puts a wrench in my stomach!

Today, I grabbed the wrong fill probe before I went to the range. I had every thing else, but had the wrong probe, and it still did not matter. Could not shoot, and had to drive home.

Now, I'm only looking at certain airguns as my next one!

Maybe, a Brocock Bantam mini.

Maybe an Rti Priest.

Both have only Foster fittings (no probes that then scew into another piece that THEN has the qd Foster fitting on it) to fill the gun.

GUYS,

Please post all the guns that you guys are thinking about getting, in the near future, with ONLY a Foster QD filling already attached to the gun.

(I'm not trying to start anything here.)

I agree, probes are a pain in the ***. I purchased a Donnyfl probe not long ago for my Veteran, I shoot off my deck and from my basement and have an air tank both places so I wanted a probe both places. I think I'm going to order several more for my other guns that use probes and leave them in the gun. The knurled knob sits flush with the air tube so it doesn't stick out much further than a foster would. At $25 a pop it's neither a great fix or a cheap fix, but better than constantly dealing with the probe issue (I think).

Thats what I do, I leave them in my guns. I only have 2 PCPs but have had no issues just leaving the probe in all the time. The other thing a person could do is check the fit of the fill probe before you leave the house. Or keep them all in the same container and keep the container with your air tank ready to go.

Im with you on that issue, i have a kral puncher breaker its my only airgun but i still dont like the probe filling method.

My solution is to have a machinist make the probe with the fill nipple in the back machined and also drill and tap the front of the probe as to leave it in the gun permanently and not have it stick out much.

Will post pictures once i have this done (probably in a few weeks)

I only own 4 PCP guns, and that’s plenty for me. With all the parts and pieces from spare allen wrenches for scope rings all the way to replacement aftermarket mods, I had to get better organized than throwing everything in a shoebox, and guessing which parts for what gun. I bought these snap tight o ring sealed boxes from Home Depot, and coupled with a label maker, I got myself organized. Same with all the lubes, o ring seal kits, etc., required for PCP maintenance. When I leave or shoot from the bench in my garage, I grab the box labeled for the specific gun I’m using. Each box holds the probes for its gun, and I go the extra mile in trying to keep things dust free by enclosing the probes in a small zip lock.
