This is new. I just want to buy a Gun.

I’ve been a buyer and seller here on the forum for a few years now. I’m in good standing with those I’ve done business with and have not have any negative comments or experiences with those transactions that I’m aware of. I’v inquired of three guns now on the classifieds, all of which are still up, and not received a single response back. I’ve thrown out offers which I don’t believe to be offensive, yet no response. Two of the inquiries have been requesting pictures of the posted gun. I checked my inbox and it’s not full. This must be destiny. I must not be destined to buy any used airgun… Anyhow, just thought it to be a bit strange. Anyone else having troubles getting responses back from your inquiries on the classifieds?

If you play too many games, you may be on some members ignore list. This stuff goes both ways. I've had at least 3 members in the last week play games. One even made me a counter offer to my price which I accepted without condition, sent him my Paypal information, and he never even responded back that was 3 or 4 days ago. I am not a game player. I am thankful to Michael for the "ignore" option and know how to use it. Once on my ignore list, I will not buy or sell to or from you, even if you are selling a $4,000 item for $1.

Adam, in general, I think members list things at a price they consider fair, and are thus not receptive to much negotiation. When I have been a seller, I generally list a firm price, and it is usually received as fair. As a buyer, I don't remember ever doing much back and forth discussion, except for information. On rare occasions, I have seen something listed at well over FMV, and I ignore them. To your point, yes, sellers should respond to reasonable inquiries and offers, unless the price is stipulated as firm.

I’m new to the forum and have truly enjoyed the experience including buying a couple items. All but one sellers have responded to my offers or questions. The one none response I can understand because my offer was lower than his price. Of course it would have been better if I got a replay of “too low” or something.

Please be patient with the community. I’m sure you will find the gun you want here. I believe most sellers try to be reasonable in pricing. Not all of them have the time or habit to respond to all inquiries.

Interesting. The account just vanished.

Exactly. Why would an individual delete their account after all of this... :

"been a buyer and seller here on the forum for a few years now. I’m in good standing with those I’ve done business with and have not have any negative comments or experiences with those transactions that I’m aware of"

... unless this individual set up many accounts, and worked them all to build several reputations "in good standing." And that being the case, what is the ultimate motivation for the individual "working" the multiple accounts? Possibly not of good character and hidden motivation?

I’ve not sold on this forum but have on other forums but not Airguns. I always respond to an offer out of curtesy the first time. After that if they are offering a really lowball offer or telling me they can buy it cheaper elsewhere I just ignore them. But every buyer deserves at least a response on their first offer even if it’s a simple “no”.

I'm kinda new here? I really don't post much, just read alot of the info available. I do buy, sell and trade on other forums. It helps when you have seller ratings, a feedback section....ect.

It's always good to be able to edit your ad to mark things sold, spf, and update it with new items as well not to clutter up the board.

I do my best to respond to all inquires, in thread or through pm.

Personally if I don't get a response I don't let it bother me.

We'll that's one way to never had good standing is to delete your account. I've spent years on Gunbroker establishing a good reputation so that my guns will sell well. On here I will sell to anyone , but I only buy from reputable members that have proven their good standing. I see that everyone is still not using the accuracy points for buying and selling, which is so much easier to read their transactions and determine their reputation. In my opinion it is much more important to have accuracy points from selling and trading than it is for making good comments, especially when your attempting to buy form this individual. Plus I have seen some +50 or more in accuracy that ask some very basic airgun questions that I knew the answer to 20 years ago. So IMO accuracy points should be first and foremost for buying and selling credibility. I cam into this year with 12 and will more than likely come out of this years with around 50.
