This one ran a little.

I got another squirrel this morning about 7:30am. It was a little over 30 yards away on the ground looking for acorns. I used my P35-177 shooting H&N baracuda match 10.6 grain pellets a little under 900 fps. The pellet hit this 14 ounce male behind one fro t leg and went out behind but closer to the other. He only went 5 or 6 feet but it was through a fence I had to go over to retrieve him. Most of the 16 I've taken with this gun have been DRT but not all.

I know everyone regard .177 as a tiny caliber but shooting a squirrel with one is like getting shot by a .50 cal. It will bleed, and it will die. Good job! Can't wait for my .177 p35x to come in!

Shot this one this morning in almost exactly the same spot and got the same result. It was about 8 feet up a small tree facing down. At impact she kind of curled up and I thought she would fall dead but she crawled under a bush where my dog found her. Cola didn't think she was dead so she shook her and the squirrel seemed to make a small noise very briefly. Shot was with my P35-177 pushing 10.6 grain H&N Baracuda Match pellets about 880 fps. Pellet went through her. She weighed 18 ounces on my fish scale and 19.3 ounces on my new kitchen scale.

Another runner this morning. She was fidgety as she came towards my back yard. She turned around once and started to exit but reversed and got to where a shot was safe to take. She was facing down when I shot her and ran up the tree for 8 or 10 feet and collapsed. Another double lung without hitting bone. I was trying to hit her shoulder but a clean one shot kill is OK. The gun is my P35-177 in a home made stock using church pew wood. Scope is an Athlon Talos 6-24 set at 6x. She was about 20 yards away.

Still looking for a shoulder shot to check that theory (although yesterday's Prod shot broke the off side shoulder). This mornings squirrel is another that avoids running, one to the brain. Another one with my 177 at about 25 yards. Went through. Squirrel hung there bleeding badly for a few seconds and dropped. 19 ounce male. I also threw in a picture of the meat. 4 legs and the back part of the back. Almost 8 ounces of meat (and bone).

This one did not run after getting hit in the neck. I think it was doing the brain shot dance when my dog got there so she shook it pretty good. She doesn't bother if they are laying there dead. I hit this 17 ounce male at 27 yards on the side of a tree down low close to the ground. I was using my P35-177 shooting H&N Baracuda Match pellets about 880 fps. It wears an Athlon Talos 6-24 which was set at 6X. I think this is the same squirrel we've been seeing a time or two a day. He figured out that if the back door opened or a window opened he needed to run. Today the temperature was near 70 so I opened a window when my dog and I returned from our afternoon walk. This guy heard the dog barking but she wasn't in the yard so he came back. That was a mistake.
