Thanks been a big helpAnd if you plan to polish them out a little, felt bobs and compound is all you need. I use an die grinder or a dremal would work. Just do a little at a time, allow to completely cool, "compressed air works", clean, resize, measure, repeat. You can get them dead on.
@ZekeZX10 I didn’t ask him anything. As I said when he posted the quoted post below, I was wondering the same thing as he was literally posting. Yes I could’ve asked you, if I were asking a question, but since I wasn’t I don’t know what your issue is. If you like your setup, that’s what matters.Could have asked me instead of Ta-Ta-Toothie
Although another step and expense, you could try a NOE resize die. Take a .305 and polish it up a few .0001

Didn't know resizing this way was an option, brand new to me@ZekeZX10 I didn’t ask him anything. Got email back from them with all I'd need. Little over $200.00 for everything and then the extra step to resize or just pay $400.00 for new die. I'll have to think about it. Thanks for the input though.Reduced .0008 and very consistent. View attachment 478696

@ZekeZX10 I think sizing has its place (like sizing store-bought slugs or maybe cast slugs), but when swaging I think it’s ideal to have the die that matches your bore size. Unfortunately you ordered your die before slugging the barrel. Another thing that sucks about that is if you have a couple barrels for a particular rifle, like maybe a backup barrel, it’s not guaranteed that your primary and backup barrels will have the same groove diameter. Some of these dies sets we get seem to marry us to a barrel. There may be other alternatives to this sort of situation, I just don’t know what they might be at the moment.Didn't know resizing this way was an option, brand new to me
Or...I've heard good things about GMI Engineering and they'll be starting to ship their new slug press in August. Watched some reviews on their dies and all pretty good. https://www.gmiengg.com/product-page/freedom-press-mark-iiAnd if you plan to polish them out a little, felt bobs and compound is all you need. I can see having the ability to resize definitely have advantages like you stated. Ask if you can purchase some test slugs. Not all slugs work with every barrel even though it's the correct size.Or...I've heard good things about GMI Engineering and they'll be starting to ship their new slug press in August. I'm thinking of going the resizing route first, at least I will always have that option and seems they have a wide variety of available calibers. Can add a new press eventually and actually no complaints about the Thor Press other than I should have slugged the barrel first but everywhere I read about the vulcan 3 it stated actual bore was 3063 so I didn't even think about slugging it first.Ask if you can purchase some test slugs. Sounds good. And you already know that slug design works for you. It doesn't take that much more time to do.I'm thinking of going the resizing route first, at least I will always have that option and seems they have a wide variety of available calibers. Oh well live and learn. The Press actually has almost paid for itself. The slugs I bought from AVS were $140 for 500 slugs with shipping. I am almost through a 40lb coil of lead which made about 4k slugs. 4000 slugs from AVS would have cost me $1,120 so at least I'm not out whatever I do.
There is one more option if you like the performance you are getting with your current slug. You can relax the chamber just a touch for slug use. It’s been a long thread and I can’t remember if you have a slug probe installed.I'm thinking of going the resizing route first, at least I will always have that option and seems they have a wide variety of available calibers. If you're only buying from American made die suppliers, you will be limited to slugs.I will only buy from American made Die suppliers. I own mostly Corbin products for PB projectiles and will stay with them. I think the score now is four die sets with a set for making jackets from rimfire cases. One day I will decide what I want for 0.25 cal pellets/slugs. I want a die set for a flat point pellet with an HP nose punch I THINK. Be Well Brothers, Bandito.
It is when you said you were looking for both slug and pellet dies made in the USA. There is a large difference between slugs and pellets and the tooling required to make them. And that is a problem ? ¿ ?
