Thought my gun was broke, Crazy pellets

Kinda of apples to oranges , But I heard you say H&N Mine is 177 Uragan is my H&N pellet gun just because I got so many H&N 177 10.65 grain, Gun has always been a super accurate gun, for over a year shooting the H&N Then gun started shooting all over the place coffee can size groups at 48 yards, Open a can of redesigned H&N same thing cleaned my barrel again,, Dam I thinking some wrong with my gun.. Picked up a can of my Vulcan gun JSB pellets EXACT HEAVY DIABOLO 10.34 gr. One ragged hole at 48 yards 15 shots, loaded another magazine same thing,, Something changed from one can to the other in the H&N pellets, I even opened up two more new H&N tins same thing,,, So its not my gun its the pellets.
Not sure I am going to buy any thing H&N again, I just got to many pilling up in the back of my pellet cabnit Just add the 177 back with the 22 and 25 H&N tins of pellets my guns don't shoot ,

I hear you man. Fwiw, happens with JSB too though I still think they're the best bet in most cases.
Recently bought a high end gun designed for shooting the .22 Monster Redesigns, & ordered 15 tins of MRD with it. Was thinking I'd somehow gotten a lemon rifle (which would probably be a first for that particular manufacturer!) when it hit me... these don't look like the picture on the tin.

Turns out five of the tins were full of the original Monsters. Felt like a real dumdum for getting through a whole tin before realizing it . In my defense, had never shot either one before so didn't think much of it when I cracked it open.

Man were those OM's turds... at 50 yards they were keyholing & wouldn't stay on a standard sheet of paper. Could see them knuckleballing through the scope!

The photo on the tin lids is the Monster Redesigned.
The pellets inside those tins are actually the original Monster design.

Got them from AOA, & as always, they're taking care of it (even though clearly not their fault).

I’ve had really good luck with H&N pellets. couple things, they are a little harder in composition, the skirts are thicker and the skirt inner pocket depth and shape is quite different. ( with some probe styles this can be a factor. )
But they are much more consistent in weight and shape, they shoot really well in both my .177 poly barrels.

Im curious what speed you are driving the monsters at, Om or mrd and what gun/barrel (and its twist and choke status) . My impact liked both with the pellet liner and really liked the redesignd in the slug liner at 950 all the way out past 100 yards. Then again my little souped up crosman 1322 also likes om at 40 yards at 500 fps.

I wash and silicone lube mine, the redesign is better but my gun did kinda like the flying sausages out of the 1:24 choked pellet liner. I hope you have good luck with the fx branded sorted jsbs. Redesigns just wont shoot bad out of either of my 700mm liners or my buddies mav with a 500 liner. Bad is bigger than half inch groups/ a single ragged hole at 50 for me

If you buy a scope or bipod or something else from me I have been dropping a tin in the box just to get rid of them, I hate to throw money away, I feel better giving it away. LOL I have even been known to drop a china bipod in the box , If it will fit.. See the silver point pellets I could not even hit a 4x8 inch target at 48 yards... If you really LOVE and I mean LOVE H&N pellets just call me a bad shot, LOL....

I meant half thousandths sorting bud. If your barrel wont shoot all the .217 h&n maybe it prefers .2175 or 218.

I really don't have much time to shoot.. I have found what slugs my guns prefer..n hoard accordingly.. I on buy pellets for my 177 compact.. I have saved n label the slugs my guns shoot perfectly.. to order the dies need from Corbin..

Me too, pellets for my low end/power guns (marauder 25 and aea hpss 22, various sub 15 ft lb guns). Slugs for the impact. Sizing with a micrometer that can measure .00005 was sort of fruitless, sorting to.0005 showed results however. Especially the marauder gm bbl. Wash/lube turned some pellets into real shooters too.

The ONLY .177 H&N pellet that I had good results with (and they were VERY good results with my Fortitude) was the H&N Sniper Magnum 14.97, which they no longer make... (heavy sigh)

If the JSB 10.34 pellets are doing well for you, then try the FX or AA 10.34 pellets. They are made by JSB, but they are limited to a single set of dies.

My experience with them is that the FX (haven't tried the AA) pellets outperform the JSB slightly. Not a HUGE difference, but a difference. And at PA, they are the same price as the regular JSB pellets, so I now buy the FX pellets and the Hades... which are doing well for me out to ~40 yards.

If you dont like sorting, the fx branded jsb pellets are worth your time. Pellet speed preference became especially noticeable to me in 177. Calculating stabilization factor with the twist rate i had, and running the heaviest pellet i could find helped with accuracy in that gun since i couldnt change the tune in that one (break barrel)
