Do you guys still think the turkeys are talking up north? I was up in 3C last weekend and heard very little action. I did get a Tom to come in up to about 80 yards and I blew it. He was very wary to begin with and I think I called too much and spooked him. I didn't have time to set the decoys out. He may have been looking for a hen and when he didn't see one, he probablly decided to take off.

Don’t know what you consider up north to be but I’m in Nebraska and turkeys are almost a nuisance species. Things are everywhere even walking right down the middle of the street don’t even need a weapon to kill one just walk up and strangle the damn thing.

same here,SF Bay Area, Turkeys are very tame ,fun to watch,a rafter,flock of 25-33 walk the same territory around the same time everyday.

Turkeys won’t be talking in Pa for another 7 months. The only talking to be done in the fall is if you are fortunate enough to break up a flock. Then you start calling to reunite the group. Calling for toms in the fall puts you at a disadvantage. They aren’t looking for girlfriends this time of year. I guess you can gobble at him and hope he’s gay.
