Throw Me Some Opinions

Shopping for rifle #2. Mandatory features are open sights of good quality, .22 cal, . I do not want a scope. I want 50 yard tight groups, above 700 fps with 16g .22, .

Right now i have a Benji 392 with williams peep, and it does all of the above except the 700+ Fps, and it requires alot of pumps.

i am not interested in steroid 392, or re-inventing the wheel. I think i would like the Benji Discovery, but i do not understand the hose connection fittings. I have nitrogen bottles and regulator on my AC service truck, and if i knew how it worked, i could charge the discovery. 

I do not want to learn a special hold for springs. I do not want to take apart and polish things, other than rebuild my 392 seals. That is simple.

I assume the Discovery has a check valve behind its charge port. Wonder if the threads are standard, like 1/4 npt ( national pipe thread ) [ air compressor stuff ]



if so, i can engineer my nitrogen bottle to charge it .

The new Freedom,open sight,It might be to much for ya 22-900 fps.

I bet the freedom could be turned down to the 700fps mark.

For right now, i put the PCP on the sideline. The pump cost more than the rifle.



I was almost settled on the Gamo Magnum till i heard about a Plastic barrel . Is this true? A plastic barrel ? 



Now i am reading about barrel droop. Not me. I want a rifle with no issues. My Benjamin with brass barrel and aluminum Williams sight is looking better & better. 50 yards all day long, hitting automobile freon cans. 



Is there any rifle out there without band aid repair issues and plastic barrels ?

Benjamin maximus with a China hand pump from Amazon for under $300 !

Benjamin hand pumps are a piece of crap but the all stainless $40 pump from Amazon worked for over a year with no issues and comes with a rebuild kit if ever needed. 

I have tanks now for my high end guns but I pumped a Mrod for a couple years before I stepped up my game....

Just get the Discovery and fill it with your Nitrogen tanks. You will need a fill/gauge set up to put on your bottle. Those aren't cheap though I have seen a used one for sale on one of the airgun forum member classified. I am assuming your Nitrogen bottles aren't the 6000psi variety and the normal 2800psi so it should work fine. If 6000psi you probably would want a regulated gauge/fill set up.

Yes our nitrogen bottles max out at 2000 psi and i do have a regulator. Now the bottle is huge and heavy so even though it is 2000 psi, it has a huge quantity .
