Not at all. I mean the hammer and the spring guide must be polished. Then I use a dry lubricant only - MoS2 or WS2. I rub it into the hammer chamber and the spring itself.

This is legit.
Obviously, you want to use something, nothing isn't an option for very long. Dry lubricants or powders are the way to go 95% of the time. If you're a die-hard hunter who likes to hunt in downpours in warm tropical regions use some type of high end wax product.

As with all tradition hammer flying through a tube setup you should not use any grease or oil that would attract dirt/dust and create sticky mess/inconsistencies. Best thing would be dry lubes like dry silicon or wax. main purpose ain’t lubrication as the contact areas are small and lube would wear out in 1-2 shots. main reason for dry lube is to coat the mental parts to prevent rust or corrosion from moisture.

Use a dry lube that has Teflon in it. Silicon is a good lube for plastics and rubber but not metal. If you decide to use a wax I recommend Renaissance wax. It is a synthetic wax and is the hardest wax made. I use it instead of gun oil on my guns for rust protection. Use it on the stock too. It is one of the few waxes used in museums.

ck out AmsOil website. Their products are unaffected by temperature extremes and offer corrosion protection. I use it for years, no problems.

Anything that moves, slides or rotates, will benefit from lubrication. Be it dry lube, silicone lube, expensive Aerospace lube (!).
Depending on the pressure that the parts see, most friction in an air gun are light loads and a thinner oil, or silicone oil will work fine.
Things with a heavier load, a thin coat of a quality grease or full thick silicone grease will work well in this case.
Personally, I would not use a "dry lube" on/in an air gun. UNLESS...it's a coating that's professionally applied. That is, grit blasted, cleaned, coated, heated to the particular temperature to cure it, and cooled.

I use ws2 and frog lube.. Frog lube to me is just like the hot sauce, "I put that @#$% on everything !!"

I'm a huge fan of Tri-Flo and Mobile 1, not in a bore or any high pressure areas but.......elsewhere, go for it.
