To newbie, would be ratters…

Yes, you can go whole hog… Or you can simply attach a red or green light, to the accurate rig of your choice and have at it. The majority of rats, will never know the difference. You will eventually “evolve” your setup, or not. Because if it works? Why spend more? For me the major downside to green or red lights on my PCPs has been. Alerting humans to my presence, pesting in my home range at night? An Arken Zulus, neighbors non the wiser. Pesting at a dairy, chicken farm, etc.? A red/green light combo on an accurate airgun will kill many, many rodents.

My damn rats are smart. If my dogs see me carrying a pcp they start barking and the damn vermin know to hide. Any light alerts my dogs. The zulus helps if i can sneak past the damn dogs.lol. i was able to pick a small rat out of the grass tonight with a newly acquired thermal. I guess that would be whole hog.lol

Leon with a non BRK? Are you ok ?

I have a clip on PARD, works good. But usually end up with a mounted light, if and only if I can stay awake after dark.

Rabbits don’t care.

Scotay, the creatures hear me and the dogs when we go down the stairs to get to the back door. We must be verwy verwy qwiet. LOL
Cause its wabbit and wat season. Lmao

Before the BRKs stole my heart through performance. The Gamo Urban and Artemis pp700sa did the bulk of my pesting. Heck the pp700sa was my number one rat killer. More kills combined than all my BRKs… The pictured 1701p is murder on them at close range. The single shot loading is the only downside.

If my dogs see me taking the airgun into the yard they go silent.

Here the main reason you'd consider a thermal scope is so you can patrol in complete darkness. May not matter to the rats, as you say, but will make a difference with neighbours.

I wish they were quiet. Lol, they are good alert dogs, but they suck when you want them quiet. I cannot use any light around these rats either. They scatter with red and green, freakin Nymh labrats. Lmao
