To turn a SMALL bottle gun into a BIG bottle gun....

🔸 To turn an air TUBE gun into a BOTTLE gun....
🔸 To turn a SMALL bottle gun into a BIG bottle gun....

➔ For that, we need something like a Bottle-Step-Down Adapter — because bottles/ bigger bottles have a larger diameter and otherwise would not fit under the shroud. 😟

I've seen those adapters for the Avenger, the Prod, and a genius made one for a PP700 once.
There is even an OEM by FX for its Dreamline.

🔷 Retorical questions:
▪ Why are there not more adapters and step-down-adapters available — OEM or aftermarket?

▪ Why do manufacturers mount the bottles so close to the shroud that only small diameter bottles can be used?

🔷 Real question:
Would someone make a step-down adaptor (for the RTI Prophet I Compact Performance)?
How hard can this be? (Yes, I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to engineering, please use fuel sparingly when flaming me, remember the outrageous fuel prices.)

Matthias

The photo shows how the adapter steps down the air reservoir connector in order to allow a large diameter bottle to be mounted, instead of a small diameter air tube (Dreamline).

Very nice, 700cc is just a dream air reservoir. 👍🏼

However, since mine is a Compact, I only have about 8" of bottle length to work with....

🔸 And even for a regular sized RTI... — if I had a .30cal, I'd love to attach a 1 liter bottle so I won't have to count shots but just blast away.... 😄
🔹 But their diameter is too large to fit the RTI — or any current PCP — given that most gun designs require small diameter bottles — and given that there are no step-down adaptors....

🔸 Bringing me back to the question: Can someone make a step-down? Why are these so far not available? 😊

Matthias

Yes, the 61mm bottles do fit. 👍🏼
And I'm struggling to keep my money in my pocket and not go out and just buy one right now.... 😄

Silencer? — Yeah, I need unrestricted silencer mounting, 2 inches.... 😄

But I'm looking at something larger down the road.
And the RTI is actually pretty good allowing 61mm, I think (haven't researched this) that some other brands require narrower bottles. So, I'd like to keep my gun options open. The FX step-down adapter for the Dreamline is unfortunately only a very slight step-down... — and does not allow a bottle and the large diameter shroud that the Compact Tactical originally was sold with....

The OEM bottle on my Prophet was 500cc I installed the 700cc bottle added the 2inch to the shroud, Didn't need to, just did it, No speed increase but it did muff the sound a little more, Just installed my Tanto LDC . Bench pesting shooting, I do pick it up and walk around the yard when I have to take a crazy shot at a sparrow of something, It really shoulders good and its not really heavy. I have most of my sparrow feed stations around and within 48 yards of my shooting table.

I've done a few tube to bottle conversions without using a Bottle-Step-Down Adapter:

.22 Bulboss with 390cc? bottle slung on the side of the bullpup stock, with a threaded fill probe as the air connection:

.22 Armada with 450cc bottle slung underneath with a union fitting for the air connection through the original gauge port:

.257 Armada with 2000cc bottle slung underneath with a foster connection for the air fitting:

"...if I had a .30cal, I'd love to attach a 1 liter bottle so I won't have to count shots but just blast away..."

The .257 slug gun with the 2 liter bottle gets 80 shots at over 150fpe on a full fill. It's great for blasting away from the bench (or prone). It's currently torn down for a re-barrel to shoot 7mm caliber slugs. Goal is 40shots at about 250fpe.

So you would like RTI to offer 3 versions. The Prophet, the Prophet compact, and the Prophet potbelly compact. Just put a 480 on the compact if you need more air. If you step a bottle down the gun is going to get weird and you’ll have to get creative for mounting a bipod. Your gun will be almost as tall as it is long. If you turn your gun into an air hog trying to get standard velocities out of a compact barrel, a 480cc tank should easily get you through a day of hunting.

Thank you, all! 👍🏼

Scott (like a few others on this thread!) — you are an airgun engineer! Great modding! 😊
For the looks, I'd need the bottle below the gun, though, sorry.

Dan, you got the looks right in the photo you posted, oh yeah.

Frank, you crack me up:
Prophet in 3 versions:
▪ Regular
▪ Compact
▪ Potbelly Compact
Yes! 😄

We're just missing the Prophet with the 700cc long tank — that might be the:
▪ Wiener Prophet

Why the quest for more air?
I'm thinking of outings of a full day or two, with hunting and plenty of extreme long range plinking in the Andes, without having to carry a pump or tank. That's why a Prophet Potbelly might be nice.
And, I admit, I'm dreaming into the far future of owning an extreme long range RTI in a larger caliber = air guzzler.

🟢 The Greenhorn that I am when it comes to high end PCP's — I had assumed that — of course — if there is a bottle on the gun, that bottle is swappable under pressure (just carry an extra bottle in your pack and you're good to go).
🟢 Isn't that one of the big advantages of having an "externally mounted" bottle instead of an air tube that is indispensable part of the structural stability of the gun?! Isn't it?! 🤦🏻‍♂️
➔ It never occurred to me it could be otherwise..., never occurred to me to ask or check the specs. 🤣 Gullable fool that I am.... (my next thread will address that).

Matthias?
Before I jumped into PCP I used a 1 Liter paintball tank tethered to an unregulated rifle. I changed the valve/regulator on the tank (I guess to 1800 psi, but I collected several from aliexpress and finally ended up arranging the washers myself to my needs).
Just wondering what you feel more comfortable dragging around "walking out in nowhere", adding a 1 Kg to your airgun or putting that 1 Kg in a sling bag or around your waist? Old picture one of my bags but just to show what I meant. Also that 1800 psi (or your custom washers) acts as a pre-Reg to the Reg.

Attila,

the "mobile thether" is not a bad idea....
I don’t think I like it but that's just me.... 😄

The "mobile fill tank" without the hose attached to my gun would appeal to me more.
Maybe a 700cc "Wiener" CF tank that I could use as an air storage — AND that can double as on-board tank for that dream extreme long range rifle.....
Did I hear someone wisper "RTI Prophet II Performance .25cal"? (Shut up — my vision goes blurry and I can't think a clear thought!! 🥴)

Thank you all for your ideas! 👍🏼

If you have a painball or airsoft store close by, make them a visit. I think I got couple of these sling bags back in time my son's were growing up with painball battles. I still have 2-3 painball guns packed in boxes resting/rusting/oxidizing somewhere deep in my basement locker. I shall have one waiste belt you can attach four or six CO2/airtanks.
