Caveat: I wasn’t asked and it wasn’t suggested that I do or say any of this. I am a satisfied owner of an exceptional air rifle saying “thank you” for quality craftsmanship and great service.
A little background info -
I was turned on to the AAA Evol by watching Dana’s (@Crosman999) work in the field with it. The way he uses his gun reminds me of things I would do, have done, or want to do. After reading many posts and reviews on various guns. The AAA Evol .30 was the more costly of my two dream guns. I recall one going on sale in the “Classifieds” after EBR 2021 that I’d inquired about. That sale didn’t come to fruition. Then I thought “well that’s a lot of money and it probably just wasn’t meant to be.” So I was content with my other guns for a time, but the Evol kept calling me. Eventually another went up in the “Classifieds” and I contacted the seller. We worked out a deal and met at a range. I brought the wrong type of scope and couldn’t zero it there but it still grouped well where it shot. That was enough for me. When I got it home I set it up with a Bushnell Nitro scope and began getting a feel for it. I loved it!! It came tuned by Derick Wall (@zx10wall) and I’ve been apprehensive to touch anything on it. Then one day another member convinced me to take it out to 100 yards so I set it up on my tripod and this happened my first time out - shooting34 44 grain pellets. Not great, but I’m just a regular guy who likes hunting. Never been a target shooter or long-range shooter so it was impressive enough to me.
After that I was hooked. Then I found slugs that shot well and backed it up to about 110 yards with similar results. Is it capable of shooting out further? I think so. Am I? I wouldn’t push it.
Next thing you know I get a call about a couple of pests on a ranch and I’m out camping and trekking through the brush with the Evol and setting up coyote stands. It pairs well with this Eberlestock Gunrunner pack for easy accessibility and adequate protection (I can reach back and pull it out of the pack without removing the pack). I also tried to take hog with it. I called the yotes in, but blew my stand when they ran up on the thicket I was posted in. I wasn’t able to call them in again that week. I never saw the hog off camera. There will be other opportunities when I have more time.
After seeing adequate use I encountered some minor issues. On one occasion Tom Costan (@slayer - AAA manufacturer) chimed in on the thread with advice. More recently I reached out to Tom asking about some components I’d encountered other small issues with. He explained some improvements he’d made and offered to send the parts I needed. I was taken aback by his offer. I was simply trying to find a part and repair another. In a matter of days I received my parts. He also provided instructions on how to perform the work. I figured if the gun could withstand Dana’s torture test of being dragged behind a Jeep, tossed off of a cliff, submerged in a hot tub, disassembled, cleaned, reassembled, and still shoots well then my issues were very minute and fairly simple to remedy.
I can respect a businessman who stands by his product and his product is what it’s touted to be - a high-end, rugged, and consistent hunting rifle with an appealing finish and solid build. It’s also refreshing to see a manufacturer who cares enough about his customers to ensure that they are enjoying their products to their fullest potential after spending a portion of their hard-earned wages. Thank you Tom for your support and generosity.
Remember the brand: American Air Arms Evol, great product and great support.
Simply put, it’s one hell of an air rifle!
