Took a chance on a skyhawk refurb

Long story short; bought a .25 skyhawk last year. The best it would do was 2" at 12 yards.

Sent it back for refund. Bought a walther reign. Same thing! Back to sender!

PA had a refurbished .25 cal skyhawk and I thought maybe I could win the barrel lottery.

I shot 10 shots under a dime at 40 yards. I can live with that.

I love the p15 and Skyhawk guns. They are light, handy and in my opinion the best ergonomics for hunting in my small blind. Unfortunately that barrel lottery is preventing me from getting one and spending the cash to put a LW on it puts me in a price bracket that would purchase a fine gun right out of the box. Maybe I will find one used with a LW barrel on it. Glad you got a good one. I'm super jealous.

Congrats on the barrel lottery. I bought a .177 and .22 and they both had crappy barrels. I bought a known good .177 barrel from another member here and had a CZ barrel machined for my .22. I beefed up the trigger linkages in both guns, added HUMA regulators, and replaced the o-rings with better quality ones. Both guns are now very accurate and a pleasure to shoot. I also bought enough of the odd spare parts once I found out that these were discontinued.

When I first got my .177 Skyhawk, it had a creeping regulator. So I would take take a shot to reset the reg if it had sat for more than a few minutes. The reg got better after a year of use. Reg was eventually stable enough so "warm up" no longer needed. I changed the barrel out early on for a LW choked poly. It is now my most accurate/favorite FT rifle. I got it with the really nice laminated stock. I eventually wanted a shorter LOP, so I made a new stock. I did not want to cut up the original in case I ever wanted to return it to factory configuration.
