Benjamin Torn between the 2

On the fence over here and I’d like some input from the group. I’m looking at the Benjamin Bulldog .357 and the newly introduced Skout Epoch compact (would opt for .30 cal). I’m shooting pests including coyotes, raccoons and so on. I know it’s hard to talk about the compact so any experience with the regular epoch would be appreciated as well. Thank you!! Ideally I’d like both but.. well, you know 💵

My vote would be for the Skout. Unless you really need .357 for deer or larger prey the cost of ammo, shot count, and air consumption are all nearly double, while the ammo choice is half.
The Skout is a versatile platform, allowing you to change between calibers in about a minute if you decide to use .22 etc. for smaller or closer prey.

Just 2 cents.

@Kneepit The Bulldog M357 gets my vote. I've killed raccoon to deer sized animals with the M357 and shot a hog. Look up some of my hunting threads if you're really curious. I can't see how the Skout can compete from a hunting standpoint. I'm biased because I make more own slugs, but once you get to .30, the amount of pellets per tin drops to 150 vs 100 for .35. Simply put, unless you plant to do some long-range precision shooting, that M357 will have you covered. I do most of my hunting within 50 yards if I can help it.

Do you keep it quiet? I’ve been looking at threads and it looks like there are quite a few different options. I’m in a space where I try to not bother the neighbors.

@Kneepit Not yet. I did with the original Bulldog .357 using a Donny FL Emperor. That can knocked the report down a few decibels although, I wouldn't say it was quiet. It's a big bore and I'm in rural Texas. I shoot loud and proud. They generally are not quiet. I'm going through a gear check now about to head out on a night hunt with it.

Good luck and upload pics when you’re done👍
