Looking for a good mid range first PCP. I like Daystate or Brocock. Don't really want to start out with top of the line but have a friend who just ordered an Impact M4 and don't want him to out shoot me. :) I have read reviews on lots of guns but maybe I have read to many. Mostly would do target shooting up to 100 yards and some bird hunting. Thanks for the input.

Well, also depends on what your priorities are and what you like I guess. Bullpup or not? Wood stock or metal/tacticool? electronic or mechanical? Lots of it is taste/preference but you also wanna like the thing, right? That said, BRK and Daystate are not mid range but since you’re benchmarking against an impact:

Ghost if you want a bullpup, delta wolf if you want it to be electronic.

Wolverine if no bullpup and Woodstock / red wolf if electronic. There is a sweet red wolf deal in the classifieds right now if you’re looking for a .25: https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/wts-daystate-redwolf-25-hp-w-heliboard-reduced.1324799/

If you decide on ghost, Tony at talon tunes still has an epic price. I’d go .22 HP (which is what I have).

If you want to stay a little lower in terms of price, daystate huntsman revere is real nice, so is the BRK sniper. Another one to consider is a Taipan Veteran, really really nice bullpup. People really love there Uragan 2s as well but I never shot one personally.

All of the above are amazingly accurate, at least all I have encountered and/or own. Two things to remember: budget doesn’t stop at the gun, a good gun deserves good optics. And you’ll need an air source. Meaning you probably shouldn’t spend more than 60-70% of your overall budget on the gun to leave room for a scope, rings and compressor, probably a mod as well.

Have you ever bought from Talon Tunes? Those Taipan guns look sweet. Good shooters? Looking for .22 is what I'm thinking? Have lookied into the BRK sniper but not the Huntsman.

More than half my airguns are from Tony ;) great guy, he’ll set you up. Don’t expect chit chat though ;) if you get a taipan from him you can tell him what pellet you want to shoot and at what speed, he’ll turn it for you. Or ask him what he’d recommend for your purpose in terms of pellet/tune and follow his advise, you’ll be fine.

Edit: yeah .22 is a good choice. And yes, Taipans are great shooter, just search the forum for taipan and you’ll see…

Thaks for your help. They are priced very well and so is the Ghost he is selling. I'm not a fan of the FX impact and maybe I can show my buddy up with a cheaper gun. I think he got caught up in FX's advertising.:)

Taipan, Uragan, cricket, Vulcan if you want a bullpup. Charlie Frear at Georgia Airguns is also a great guy to buy from. While he’s trying to get the perfect tune you’ll be shooting X’s.
The uragan is a lower profile longer bullpup. I wish I got one instead of the cricket tactical I had, I think it would have served me better bench shooting.

No problem!! Ghost vs Taipan is a hard choice, in particular given the price Tony has for the ghost right now… big picture: Ghost is more modular, meaning you can buy different caliber barrels later and change it. It is also more versatile and easier to adjust, meaning regulator and hammer are adjustable externally without taking the gun apart. This allows you to shoot different pellets at different speeds etc. ghost can be tunes for more power as well. Taipan is a set and forget gun, meaning tune it once for the pellet/slug and speed you want and then that’s what you shoot. But boy do they shoot!!! You’re not going to find an unhappy taipan owner (same goes for the ghost though I think). If you get one of the two you’re not going to make a bad decision either way.

Note that there’s a Vet 2 and an original taipan, both are great, vet 2 has more power but original vet is an awesome gun held in high regards. Original vets will become rare, Tony has the last shipment ever right now on sale (from what I understand)…

Get an Uragan from https://www.krale.shop/us/catalogsearch/result/index?q=Uragan.

They are heavily discounted, super accurate, and more than worth the money spent on them. I have 2 and I'm only getting rid of the compact .22 to get a compact/600mm .177
