If this is for you Classic Leshiy below is a snippet of a chart from @Jack.K. Don't worry about what caliber, barrel length or pellet weight he is using. It's the concept that matters.

In this example, with a reg setting of 75 bar the first velocity peak was reached at six HST clicks from zero. Zero being the HST adjust turned all the way clockwise to the point it bottoms out. The on the 6th, 7th and 8th click the velocity peaked. Those clicks are counter clockwise from zero.

By then turning it back to five clicks from zero he was at ~97% of that first velocity peak. 740 would be ~95%. With my Classics I generally choose more around 95%.

Now let's say 740 to 763 was too fast for the projectile you were shooting. You can then crank down the HST so it's lower than 95% of that first velocity peak. ES goes up slightly and you may see spikes coming off of the regulator. And if you have regulator creep that first shot after a rest can be quite slow.

Your other option is to set the regulator to a lower bar setting and start the process over.

Now let's say that 740 to 763 was to slow for the projectile in question. In this case you need to set the regulator to a higher pressure and start the process over. Don't be tempted to keep turning the HST up past that first velocity peak.

By the way, I make all of my HST adjustments to my Leshiy Classics with them un-cocked.

Again, this isn't meant to say that at a reg setting of 75 you need four or five HST clicks. Your gun's hammer, spring, caliber and barrel are likely completely different than Jack's setup. You need to test with your specific setup.

basics id say are you experiment with a target chrony and a projectile to find a sweet spot on pressure .. start high and shoot it down noting what pressure area works best more or less .. then set the reg to that .. then in my understanding of it, to achieve the ultimate state of nirvana, you back off on the hammer until speed drops just a wee bit, the idea being you dont want a massive uneeded hammer spank rattling your gun since the reg is limiting it to a point .. maybe im close maybe not, thats my noob perspective on regs and hammers though lol ...
