Tripod recommendation for air rifle hunting

Best tripod I know of and have used is the Primos 62". Do not know of a 70" tripod. The promos has worked great for me standing and even in a sitting position though I will say I am only 5'11".Perhaps be creative and make your own custom or use the crotch of a tree when available, heaven only knows how often I use a tree to shot from. Hope you find what your looking for.

Cheers

I already had this Slik Pro 700 DX tripod and bought this Neewer gimbal head 30 lb. capacity with arca swiss attachment to use with my rifles with picatinny rails. You see you can buy the tripod without the head if you want to save some money. You will have to buy an arca swiss to picatinny adapter or make your own by taping and screwing a UTG style quick-release picatinny clamp to the arca swiss clamp. The tripod is heavy and stable enough to hold your rifles unattended as long as the wind is not blowing hard. The adjustable angle legs allows you to shoot from the sitting position and while the set-up is somewhat heavy I have taken it afield when I know I will be sitting or doing a lot of shooting from one position. Bill

PS I tried to copy and paste the link to Amazon for these items but it would not work. Hope you can find them $100 for the tripod and $80 for the gimbal head

How tall are you? I'm 6'3"and use this to shoot ground squirrels from a standing position. It's adjustable so you can use it from prone to standing. It's real solid and the swivel adjustments are nice and smooth. If folds easily and ones with a carrying strap.

I am 5'8" and I would not be able to use the tripod in the highest position. The listing on Amazon says the tripod max. ht is 70". One thing I will mention is the center extension pole is threaded so I am sure you would be able to add the height you need. I don't know how flexible that yolk would be with a variety of rifles. I know with the gimbal head once the tripod is set-up level it is very fluid and easy to pan and elevate for incline and decline. The only draw back is having to install picatinny rails to each rifle. You could use a sling stud adapter but I don't think it would be as secure. Bill

i'm not sure I'm understanding what you're saying. There is NO center pole on the Caldwell Field Pod. The legs pivot under the yoke, allowing you to change the height. Why would you need to add a picatinny rail to your rifles? The yoke is adjustable, down to 22".

I am not talking about the Caldwell, I was talking about the Slik camera tripod I am using. Bill

Hammer's tripod hands down!! Can be adjusted to 9ft tall and adjustable all the way down to the ground you can set legs offset to any terrain very sturdy 360 swivel

Redick, can you provide a model # for this 9 ft tripod by Hammers. I know I am old but appear to be blind as well. I can only find Hammers model with a max of 68".

Cheers

That may have been a typo on part so you are correct 68" is the max height for the Hammers
