Good morning!
I returned home from the 2020 Puerto Rico Grand Prix a couple weeks ago. What a blast! In spite of concerns caused by a long series of earthquakes our friends from the Puerto Rico Field Target community set up two 25 lane WFTF style courses by adding several new lanes to their venues and cleared off w hole new area for the pistol match at Pedros range. It was a LOT of work!
You can take a look at some of the pics of the event here.

The courses are some of the most interesting and challenging that i have shot anywhere in the world.
The course designed this year at the range of Manuel "Poly" Morales was especially interesting. It had a curving line of fire that arced around behind poly's house on the property, shooting down across the river in the valley behind the house.
Pedro's range is always windy. Bring your A game. The wind changes direction by the minute & he uses the wind column differences with elevated targets.
The food is great and the hospitality amazing. You can't go there and not feel welcome.
It's usually the first GP of the season & it's a great way to escape the winter up here in the north, dust off some cobwebs, and drink a couple beers.
Depending on air travel costs, it can be a very inexpensive GP to attend. We usually get together on the lodging and rent a cars, resulting in an out of pocket cost of around $800 for a 5-6 day trip.
You can fly into Borinquen or San Juan. Schedules through San Juan are far better for me even though it's a 2 1/2 hour drive from the airport to the west side of the Island. That's because I can take a nonstop from BWI to San Juan. Even with the drive I get there sooner for less money than if i went through an intermediate airport to land at Borinquen.
The Airbnb situation has worked well for us but plan to be flexible. If the owner says they're going to have to meet you somewhere to take you to the house, go with it. Many of the residences we find can't be located with an address, but they are modern homes that are well appointed. A/C is usually set up in the bedrooms and if you are asked to turn it off when you leave the house, it's not a problem.
Interest in this event is growing with mainland shooters. I think we had 8 Norte Americanos this year, counting Miguel, who is more of a world class vagabond. He lived in the Canary Islands for many years.
If you're looking for a relaxed match with great shooting & a ton of laughter, this is your place, See you next year.
