Trying Out TacVector Optics SCOL-15 Marksman 4.5-18x50

Hey guys, I finally crumbled in the face of Joe Rhea's recommendations and bought a SCOL-15 Marksman 4.5-18x50 scope at what I think is a pretty good price. I've never even been within a whiff of $100 on a scope before this, but Joe is so convincing and funny and handsome and... round... that I had to find out what all the fuss was about. This seems to be exactly the scope to help me find out. I put the scope on my Benjamin Summit .22 this afternoon because it's the only gun I own that can reach out far enough to have the scope do me any real good. OH MY GOODNESS, what a new and wonderful world of telescopic sights I've fallen into! The sight picture is every bit as clear at every power as Joe's model demonstrated when he reviewed it, and I have more affection for the reticule than I'm frankly comfortable with. I have only fired 20 or so pellets through the gun since the scope went on it but, man, what an unbelievable picture I get with it. Bonus: I moved my Barska 4-12x40 scope to my detuned and newly restocked Crosman F4 to significantly improve the 25 yard shooting capability of that gun. My winter is going to be full of exciting new shooting adventures. Now's the time, boys, to lay in your winter projects and be prepared for the inhospitable months ahead. Joy to y'all!

Honestly, @blackdiesel, I take Joe at his word when he says a scope is springer rated. We all know of scopes and scope makers that don't live up to that standard, of course, sometimes even within the same line of optics. All I can say is that the glass is nicer, clearer, brighter than any scope I've had and that the reticule is more intuitive and has more useful information for the shooter than any reticule I've used up to now. Only time, and many shots, will tell if the scope is as durable as the maker claims.

As for where I got it, I managed to find one being sold through a friend - hence the good price. Not sure you'd be able to replicate my good fortune on that end of things, but I do know that this scope looks to be the "heck of a deal" that Joe thought it to be when he reviewed it. Even at retail, this scope can stand among many $300-$400 scopes without shame.

Ok I'm sure Joe did his research. I have a 3-18x50 Everest and I really like it. I'm going to check at Omega Tactical and Delta Tactical to see if they have this model.

so i was ready to make a Hawke 17 211 sidewinder scope with the SR pro reticle, then i get an email from Tac Vector that i emailed 3 weeks ago if their scopes were springer rated, just got an email from them and they say no problem.so now I have to make the decision on the SCOL-15 Marksman 4.5-18×50 or the Hawke 17 211 the Hawke is around 100 dollars more if it's worth it then i will go by what most shooters suggest. going to check out the reticle in the Tac Vector if there are any choices ect.

"chet"hi kdog
curious, how close can you focus this scope

chet
Chet it's marked 20 on the side wheel but ibeleive it will actually go down to 17yds on a review I seen by Joe Wayne Rhea....if you needed to focus closer u can always turn the power down and it should focus closer on lower power settings.I wouldn't use this on a FT rig but for general airguning I think it will work nicely.
