Yeah, they are very, very similar, but it mostly comes down to support. Zelos spare parts are nonexistent. If you have an issue with so much as a tiny o-ring, you have to send it back to the factory for repair. On top of this, there have been threads in which folks send their rifles back in, and they get them back being told that there is nothing wrong, and yet their guns still leak. The Zelos customer support appears to be close to non-existent for post sale support issues. I *think* that the o-ring kit that Wes sells is compatible, but have not been able to determine for sure. And the Zelos has a degas seal... should that seal fail, where do I get a new one since the m60b does not have a degas screw on the left side of the receiver?
I wrote to Zelos USA back on Oct 1, asking about spare parts. The below was their reply :
"At the moment, we do not stock any spare parts. Although they will be available in the future. If the gun needs to be repaired, it must be sent in, and it will be covered under warranty."
Although they will be available in the future? Yeah. I'm not holding my breath. And what happens if the gun fails after warranty? I have to cover the cost of shipping the gun, plus pay shop time, in order to replace a $0.50 oring? No thanks.
Plus, the Zelos is not as compact as the M60B. This is a trivial issue, but I prefer the shorter OAL of the m60b
If inventory is not available by the end of the year for the M60b, then yes. I will revisit the idea of purchasing a Zelos and deal with the lack of support. With luck I may get a reliable one. I'd prefer to buy from the guy who actually picks up the phone and who runs the shop. I'm ok paying a little bit more for a gun if I get to deal with a pro who still understands customer service. Wes gives me good confidence. Umarex USA? Not so much.
