Trying to Decide which .177

Although you seem set in no rear cocking, I would suggest the Taipan Vet Compact as well. But the rotary magazine does not lend itself to slugs.

The Uragan Compact would be a solid choice, but the .177s I've owned had tight chokes and did not shoot slugs well at all. Maybe Vixen would be a better option there but I've never owned or shot one.

Another option, although pricey, would be a Daystate Alpha Wolf with 17" .177 barrel. Mine shoots both pellets and slugs very well and will push up to ~25 fpe easily. Very quiet as well.
Brocock Ghost would be another option for a bit less $$$ just minus the electronics.

Styer ProX would be a nice option.

I can fit slugs in my .22 Vet Shorty without any problems. Can’t say it shoots them well, just don’t remember.

Have you started a thread on your Alpha with the 17” barrel? Would love to see results of that.

Damn it I know. AOA has a used .177 Revere unregulated at a great price.
You can't go wrong with the Daystate Revere for that price because I own the one with the regulator and for an off hand shooter or from the rest, it's hard to beat. Last year from April to December, I bought three .177 pcps because I was looking for the perfect one. I was waiting for the Maverick Compact in .177 and I bought it in April of this year and this is the one that I can truly brag on straight out of the box without any modifications. The FX Dreamline Tactical is 1 of 3 that I purchased in 2021, the Brocock Concept Lite was the 2nd one and late but not least and not in that order. Four pcps, the Daystate Revere, Brocock Concept Lite, FX Dreamline Tactical and the FX Maverick Compact have all been great pcps/shooters straight out of the box for me and they're all my go-to-pcps when I have the need.

I'm not saying you can't fit slugs in the mags, but with the o-rings being the only thing holding them in they don't stay in place very well. Pellets kinda lock in at their waist between the head and skirt. If I were moving around with the gun I'd be afraid of the slugs slipping out the mag on the sides.

Yep, I have a Revere in .22, great rifle, maybe the best configuration I own for hunting, as it is very similar in handling to a RF sporter.

Just to shake things up for you .... Consider light weight pellets in .22 . The GTOs at 12.74 . 880fps at 20fps .
I run an AGT Vixen standard .22 at 17 fpe , that 775fps at 17fpe . Constantly impressed with it . Short , light , 80shots/fill .

What I enjoy about the Daystate Revere is for its compactness and my ability to shoot it off handed, it's very well balanced. I do still have an Air Arms 400 in .177 but the Revere is definitely in a class of its own and just as accurate as my AA 400!

I hear ya. Don’t shoot them routinely, so can’t really say, but when I have used them, they seem to hold ok. Guess a little more testing is in order.

Mine were both purchased in the later half of 2022. Were yours older than that? I'm wondering if something has changed in production over the past few months.
I don't think so, and your rifles should have tuned down lower than that. Some might need more adjustment to the reg set point than others, but at the right set point, they should have had more tuning flexibility, that's odd.

My second post here. I am just starting with PCP rifles and for my urban backyard use I settled on the Benjamin Akela .177 because I like it's looks, bullpup length, I like to tinker on my rifles (have already ordered a Huma-Air regulator for it) and my dad bought a couple of Benjamin rifles for me and my older brother for Christmas, his in .22 and mine in .177. I still have it 60+ years later. All my backyard shots will be 25 yards or less. Got a really good deal from Air Guns of Arizona in .177.

After several hours of reading, watching videos, and talking notes, I'm going to go with the Brocock Sniper XR. The reason I choose the XR is not because I thought the XR was the best pcp then the rest but it had the most things I wanted. The other pcp's I was considering had some things I like but also had something's I didn't like.
Now I'm trying to decide if I should buy it now or wait for a good deal to come up. I did get my used .22 XR at what I thought was a good deal until the got the XR. What the original owner forgot to tell me was the tip of the shroud was bent. He must have dropped the gun on the muzzle end causing the shroud to bent and stripping the hugget threads, or he didn't package the XR up good enough and ws damage enroute to me. From what I remember, the box looked undamaged but who knows. I had to send the XR to John Frey so he could custom build a shroud and LDC. It's a risk I took and lost. The XR ended up better though.

I will say that I go back and forth between my Brocock and Uragan. @Emu is correct in that they are stellar rifles - accurate and trouble free. And I also have to say that I do shoot my .177 a lot more now simply because it shoots more and the ammo is cheaper! I take the larger calibers out for the long range stuff but the .177 is still pretty good out to 100 yards without a lot of wind!

I keep looking at that gun myself, in .177. If it just did at least 22fpe I probably would have bought it already. Since I already have a Sub-12fpe .177, I want the next .177 to be quite more powerful.
