Tuning Tuning help for newbie FX Crown

I recently bought my 1st PCP. It is a FX Crown MK2 Continuum in .25 (also got a .30 barrel kit). I was tuning to shoot squirrels in my yard without the pellet travelling too far, so I chose lightweight 16.54 predator GTO's. What I figured out was that my short barrel maxxed out was shooting them at about 1015 FPS while my long barrel is around 930 FPS. I thought you were supposed to get more velocity out of the long barrel? Same thing with the 26 gr FX hybrids. My understanding of the long barrel is it was basically a bolt on 100+ FPS. Am I wrong in my thinking? Or am I doing something wrong? Do I need to mess with my reg pressure? Using the factory settings so far. Any help would be appreciated.

Your tune is really dialed in for that short barrel! The long barrel allows for more expansion when you have a larger charge of air. You currently have a smaller, high pressure charge that is almost entirely done expanding in the short barrel. So the extra length just adds drag to the projectile. Thus the low speed. Mine in .22 does 32fpe in 380mm, and 65fpe in 700mm

I'd try 135 bar, and maxing the hammer preset. (have to remove the stock to adjust the little preset screw on hammer adjuster)

I agree. You must have that tuned really light.

If you plan on shooting heavier ammo I would tune for that. The nice thing with the Crown is you can turn down the HS wheel as well as the transfer port.

I tune my .25 Crown Continuum MK1 to 145-150bar. It shoots 25.4’s @ 865fps PW 4 380mm. If I turn TP wheel to low and HS wheel down to min 25.4’s drop to 500fps.

With this tune I see an increase of about 140fps with 25.4’s when switching from 380mm to 700mm. (865-1000fps)

The general consensus is an increase of about 35-40fps for every 100mm of added barrel length.
