Tuning Tuning the Benjamin Armada

I am attempting to tune the Armada .22, to use 14.3 gr. domed pellets.

I have searched for drawings to assist me in taking the Gun apart and putting it together but have not had a lot of success.

I found one drawing but it is too small and if I expand it the lines start to pull apart.

Does anyone know where I can download some good parts break down drawings and maybe some How-Tos on just how people do it ?

Thanks for your time,

Grev B.

It has to be tuned while shooting over a chronograph so you can see what you are getting velocity wise when making adjustments. Basically you'll just be turning the hammer spring adjustment at the rear end of the airgun to increase or decrease the velocity. You'll have to remove the stock to gain access to the adjustment. You can go to the Crosman website and download the PDF for your model to see the parts breakdown. if you need more/video's, I would type in Marauder on YT instead of Armada for better search results. It's the same gun without all the extra clothing the Armada has.

Hey Scrambler82,

The Armada is a GREAT platform to work from. There are endless options that can be applied. When you say that you're attempting to tune it to perform with 14.3 grain domed pellets, first real question is to figure out what you're wanting; high shot count, ultimate accuracy, max power, or a balance of all the above. I have a heavily tune .25 cal marauder. I have it set for max power and accuracy, this call for many sample pellets and slugs, and tons of chronograph time. The Marauder /Armada platform is VERY capable of competing with some the high rifles for a HECK OF A LOT LESS MONEY. Like "Triggertreat" noted, the crosman website has the PDF and there are several "Marauder" tuning videos on YouTube. Keep note that the marauder and the armada are the same rifles out side of the stock. On tuning your rig, think about what you really want out of it. Mine is tuned for what I like, long range- 150 to 260 yards with a 44gr HPBT slug @ 980 fps. The rig is a BEAST, but its what "I" like. If you want my .02 cents, just hit me up. There are tons of people out here who are all willing to help you get your rig to where you want it.

Hi,

the Armada is my first PCP and it allowed me to understand many things about PCP. Here is my feedback (due to FAC necessary for shooting at over 14.75 fpe in my country, I'm currently limited at that power (I'm doing the paperwork these days to get a licence)):

- pellets: may be you are referring to RWS Super dome. I didn't tried them because I had bad results with RWS Super field & RWS Hyper max. I gave up RWS at that point. Instead I shoot JSB Jumbot Exact, Heavy, Monsters, Monsters redesigned, H&N Field Target Trophy (other H&N are fine). JSB Jumbo Exact is confirmed by the report about the Benjamin Marauder on hardairmagazine.com . This is the most accurate one.

- Armada's exploded view is visible on Pyramid Air website.

- buttstock: I changed it because of the wobble.

- I installed a huma air regulator. Beware of not destroying the gauge support if you are doing the same mode.

- I bought the Armada in a bundle including a bipod & a Centerpoint 4-16x50 scope. I changed the bipod because mine introduced some cant that was making the scope turrets useless. (I bought a Caldwell with adjustable cant). The scope is acceptable for one supplied in a bundle. I installed it over the breach (avoiding having one mount on the breach and the other on the guard rail).

- I had to put some Loctite on the striker thread, otherwise it was moving back.

- I didn't remove the 'lawyer spring', hence the trigger is still a bit too hard.

Overall I'm quite happy with the gun, it makes nice groups with the pellets I mentioned (however I can't shoot over 45 yd in my backyard).

Cons:

- weight

- you can't adjust anything unless you remove the stock so tuning is usually power / air consumption focused, not about accuracy (or you are very patient).

- would I have access easily to Crosman spare parts, I would buy the synthetic stock & the barrel band for the Benjamin Maurader and that way I would have two guns instead of one ;-) (and a gun that would allow me to shoot in a standing position)

Sorry I didn't get back to this thread.

I still haven't ordered the parts for upgrade, but I have the list of the parts that I will be using and will order soon.

I have decided, with the help of an on-line friend, to do the upgrades myself, a Hill's Power Kit and a few springs changes, with new o-rings, the 25 XXL Huma Regulator, and a Gauge End Cap on the Air Tube so I can check the amount of air in the tank.

Waiting for a new discount to kick in on my Credit Card... wham bam, saved again !

I am at a stand still on this project.

I will start again after the Office has it new shelving and the Living Room has its new shelves, and the Cook Shea on the rear Patio is completed.

Thanks to all for your comments, appreciated !

Butt... a little disappointed to the Supplier Commitment to the Industry, personal feeling are not a thing you can bring in the picture.

I heard of people having problems ordering parts through certain vendors but I thought it was more the System than the individuals involved.

Later all, my Armada did the trick for the last year, it will continue as is for a long time to come.
