Tuxing 042 air leak -

I just started up my Tuxing 042 compressor to top off my 74cf bottle and there is an air leak somewhere around the fitting to which I have pointed with yellow arrows. I tried tightening the upper nut and when I turned on the compressor, it only ran for a few seconds then shut off. Any suggestions before I start wrenching and really screw up something?

Also, my temperature gauge does not work. Suggestions.

Is the compressor pumping air at all in these few seconds before it shuts off? Anything coming out of the hose? If not, it's possible that you have overtightened the nut and crushed the stainless tube. Undo the upper nut (while holding bottom nut with another wrench), remove the air line, see if it runs without it. If it does not, examine the check valve below the lower part of the fitting. Parts are available at the Tuxing store on Amazon and Aliexpress.

The most likely cause of the dead temp gauge are dead batteries (it runs on 2 LR44 cells) or you could just replace the whole gauge, they're dime a dozen.

Is that HP cylinder leaking water from the cooling jacket? Looks like the upper o-ring was cut during installation.

Thank you. I will try those steps.

I replaced the batteries on the temp gauge - check . . . I slightly loosened the top nut and started up the compressor and ran it up to 3000psi with a dead head. Turned it off and can hear and feel the slow leak from the nut. I tried cranking the nut tighter with two wrenches, being careful not to twist the steel tube, but I can't get it to tighten any further. No water leaking from the top cylinder. Should I remove the nut and replace an o-ring or whatever is in there? Thanks
