From my experience it seems that a LOT of the double cylinder compressors coming from China may all be built in the same factory - or at least with the same component parts. Ones which look like this Tuxing:
They differ quite widely in price, mostly it seems to be dependent on how many ancillary components they have (fully manual like the one pictured, or with an on-board cooling system, or with on-board shut-off when reaches set pressure, etc.). And the price seems to continue to go up if the company selling the unit has a service & support operation in the U.S., and how good that operation is.
It has also been my personal experience that it is not 'if' these compressors will break down, but 'when'. I have seen some where friends have gotten at least a year's worth of light use (occasional filling of guns only) and they are still working O.K. While others have had serious issues in building pressure and/or oil smoke blowing out of the crankcase vent. Sometimes that 'when' seems to be after only a few weeks or a couple of months of use.
Like anything Chinese built, it may look pretty good & robust from the outside but function and longevity can be real hit-or-miss, If buying a Chinese product like an HPA compressor, it seems almost mandatory to also purchase an extended warranty from a reputable source (like Amazon), or you will pretty much be on your own. If you buy from AliExpress (which in and of itself is not a bad thing), you may save some money up front but if the compressor goes down hard, you would likely have to pay to return it to China for any warranty repair. I believe (verify it) that so many folks like Amazon or Walmart extended warranties because they also cover the cost of return shipping for repair.
I have seen this type of compressor fail in many different ways - not building full pressure, building pressure very slowly, bad seals, non-functioning one-way valves, broken connector rods, blowing oil smoke from the crankcase, even the frying of control/safety electrical components. If you look at them as a hobby project you can fix a lot of this stuff - and actually upgrade some of it (like the fried electronics) with $15-$20 in parts which you can get directly from Amazon. Other parts you may have to order directly from China and while they can be pretty inexpensive, you are waiting 2-4 weeks for delivery every time you order.
Seems like many folks on this board prefer the Yong Heng compressors over these Tuxing type units. And, once again, they always buy the 3-4 year extended warranty with them.
