Tuxing PCP Compressor

I ordered this Chinese compressor on eBay Saturday. Tracking says I will get Thursday. Price was right and shipped from US, seller offers free returns. I felt more comfortable ordering on eBay than through Aliexpress. Price was about the same. I debated over getting the Yong Heng but my thinking is this one looks much more simple to work on if need be. I also ordered a Chinese PCP water separator for 79.00 which uses cotton to filter the air but I will replace this with some molecular sieve media which should put it on par with the Diablo PCP filters. I will post my thoughts on the compressor once I receive it.

It's working fine. One minor concern I have is the motor hums for a second or two before starting, like it's under load. It actually did this the first day and totally quit working and I thought it had fried something internally but when I found the reset button all was good. I've figured out that I need to start it with the bleed valve open. It still does hum a little but once it's running it runs fine. Mine is the 100v model, perhaps the 220v model would not do this.

I wanted to pull the cover to see the electric motor and what lies underneath but found this is not as simple as it looked. I could not slide the cover up or back more than an inch. I had to remove the top cylinder head because it blocks removal of the cover. It took longer for me to find the proper metric allen wrench than to remove the head. Which was just four bolts and a couple minutes. The bolts holding the cover on are also metric allen.

Here is a picture of the cover being blocked by the head. There was no way to slide the cover back due to design.

A few more minor issues...I fired it up for the first major test, to top off my 88 CF tank. The tank was at 2500 and I wanted to see how long it would take to get to 4500. All was going fine until it hit about 3000 psi. Then the bust disk on top of the unit popped. Spent most of the day trying to find a replacement, I could not, so I ordered a couple online and am waiting for them to come in. There are no marks on the burst disk to indicate what PSI it is for. I am assuming it was either the wrong one or it just failed. I will be replacing it with a 5000 PSI one.

The other problem is my gauge fogged up really bad to where I could hardly read it. Here is a photo. I will be replacing it also.

I have the Alpha filter. It uses cartridges rather than loose material. I would be interested in what the internal measurement is of the water separator is if a cartrige would fit I may get one and rig my set up to have a double filter.
here is link to were I buy filter cartridges.

Looks like it would fit. Here are the measurements. The overall length of the tube not including the end caps is 12.75". The threads of each end cap take up .625", so there is an overall usable internal lenth of 11.5"
The internal diameter of the tube is 1.33"
Hope this helps.

Update: I replaced the burst disk and it popped again at about 4000 psi.Seller recommended I put 2 burst disk in, now it climbs over 5000 psi. Not sure how safe this is. Anyways, I figured out also that my tank was filling way too slow, if at all. So I popped the line off and hardly any air was coming through, yet the compressor was reading over 5000 psi. I finally figured out the problem. It uses a small plastic washer (seal) which fits into the female threaded hole in the head and this is where the male quick connect screws in. They apparently over tightened this male fitting and it smashed the plastic washer down too much and this was stopping up the line. I replaced the washer and all is good except for....

When my tank got to about 4200 psi the compressor shut off, like no power. I don't have the auto shut-off model either. I figured it overheated since I had run it for about an hour. so I let it cool off. Next day I hit the reset button on it, flipped the power switch and still nothing. So I took off the cover, checked the connections and it started working again. I think just vibration from it running caused a loose connection. If it happens again I will replace the connectors or crimp them to fit tighter.

After this I finished filling my 60 minute tank and then my 45 minute tank. All seems to be good now.

Here is a picture of the washer and you can see there is no way for air to pass through as it was actually pressed into the connector.
