Air Arms Tx200 leade

Hello, I've just received a TX200HC. I was inspecting it and cleaning the barrel and noticed the leade was a bit rough looking. When inserting a cotton swab, and removing it, the leade pulls some cotton. I can feel a bit of burr with the tip of a tooth pick. This made me question what others leade looks like? I did fire some pellets and it seems accurate enough. Here's a picture. I have seen a HW97 and seem to think its not this rough and is blued. This was sold as a new gun from a vendor. Could any of you TX200HC owners share a picture of your leade?

Good photograph. I sure hope that isn't Air Arms' typical work standard for leade prep. The sharp burrs at the ends of the lands are bad news because they shear material from the heads and skirts rather than allow the pellet to gently swage into the rifling. If you're a DIY type, the common techniques used for crowns will remedy it. Round head screw + abrasive, or wet sanding (sandpaper wrapped around a dowel), or Cratex point (rubberized bit impregnated with abrasive), or similar.

I sure would hope this isn't AirArms work either. This is/was going to be my base for a WFTF Springer, but I'm going to let this sit until I see some others leades before I decide my next move. My $200 Notos has a MUCH nicer leade

I personally would pull the barrel.. assuming it is not a new gun with warranty..if it is new, this is one thing warranty is for in my opinion.. anyway if it is a used gun, I'd pull the barrel and clean it up in the lathe..if you don't have a lathe, I think it could cleaned up with abrasive and a swab in a drill.. just got slowly..I don't mean speed but do a little and look and see your progress.. better too little than too much.

Yes indeed. When Snowpeak's workmanship is better, it's time for someone at Air Arms to pause and reflect.
Ya but it's air arms man ... Air arms ...

Today Q.C now means quit caring not quality control.. 😢

Maybe a reason there's a never ending supply of air arms referbs at P.A 😜

A craytex stick would work to get rid of the burrs,
for a fast fix. Several ways to do it.

I do this for my unsatisfactory leades

Shape pencil eraser
hatsanleadebevel1.jpg
Use like 400-600 grit and spin pencil like valve grinding tool between palms of hands
hatsanleadebevel2.jpg

Nice smooth and beveled leade hole for nice pellet loading and fit .

Break barrel is a bit easier to do but maybe it can help give you a idea 🤔

I was going to mention that, I've never tried it though. I have recut a crown with this tool though, and then polished it with 0000 steel wool
and remoil. This one is carbide.

Thanks to all for replies so far. Again, this was sold as a new unit. That's why I was looking for folks to share images of theirs to see if they're all like mine. I will also contact the vendor. I'm not having the best of luck getting a springer. I ordered a HW97 from Krale. UPS destroyed it and repackaged it in efforts to conceal the damage. I'm still waiting for that to get sorted.

Maybe you might accuracy test it first. I sure would. You can always return it or try to make it better yourself after you shoot it a bit, perhaps after discussing it with the supplier. I just went through the exact same think with a new T3Tika in .223. Ugliest lead I ever saw. I did polish the lead a bit first with Iosso then after 20 rounds that were very accurate the difference in appearance of the lead is amazing. I am glad I did not give the barrel up.

Kinda sorta typical for a lot of barrel leades ..... A CRATEX POINT will clean it right up easy peezy ;) (y)
Definitely not worth sending entire rifle back !!!
Honestly that he got just looks like the pencil eracer and just put some valve grinding compound on it or a good metal polish and buff it out nice and smooth . I've seen worse like a rat chewed ..lol.

Ya but new and air arms cost and prestige I'd be kinda erked myself.
