Air Arms TX200 or TX200HC? - For Accuracy & Quiet

Heavily debating adding a TX200 MK III to my stable, most likely in .177. Regardless of which one I get, it will get a 12 FPE kit put in it. Any higher cocking effort of the HC isn't a concern as I'm a pretty big dude.

Main concern is accuracy potential and noise level. My closest neighbor is about 20 yards away if that matters. I shoot my PCP's and R7, which seem to go unnoticed by anyone.

Is the HC w/ a mod on it quieter than the standard TX? Would I be giving up anything in terms of accuracy or tuning potential getting an HC over the standard?

Have both - but in .22. You can pruchase either one factory set at 12fpe for the UK market. They were designed as a 12fpe rifle. Of the two, the long barreled rifle makes for a soft, smooth shooter.
The rifle is much more quiet. In fact it is probably the most quiet spring gun I own. What looks like the barrel is really a sleeve that lets the turbulence a chance to settle down. The carbine has a small, plenum type chamber.
Usually pick up the rifle going out the door. Both are great. Different strokes.

I have the hunter carbine in .177 and very happy with it. It's my current go-to pesting rifle. So easy to work on.

I don't think there's any need nor even a practical way to add a moderator. Mine likes the H&N Field Target Trophy pellet in 4.51mm head diameter.

Using the right hold makes all the difference. Mine likes a soft support at the balance point, with light shoulder pressure and cheek weld.

I recently worked out a consistently good way to brace against a door or window frame and provide a rest for the balance point of the forearm using my off hand. This has greatly increased my accuracy. Effective pesting out to 55yd.

Everyone seems to be choosing the HC models now.
I do not know why.
I am sure there is no difference in performance.
The spring and barrel length are identical.
I like the long ones.
#1 & #3 (walnut) shoot at 13.5fpe with the factory rebuild kits.
#2 shoots at 16.5fpe.

Do you see an accuracy difference with the 16.5fpe rifle?

I've got an HC now but preferred the full version that I sold a fee years back.

You can add a LDC to both of noise is an issue. You need to remove the end cap and get an adapter like this. Fenton ships to the US and also has some nice sizers if you figure out which size pellets it likes the best.

Norma Jean on top of her boyfriend JFK😎 Both "full" size TX200's. JFK is new and hasn't had a pellet shot out of it yet. I plan to take JFK out today and see how the full power setup shoots. Norma Jean is about 11 FPE and is my HFT springer.

I see you dropped the coin on the new Ultimate Springer version. Let us know how you like the stock.

It does shoot a bit flatter.
I know, that no rifle or pistol shoots flat but the 16.5 does shoot flatter than the 13.5.
With all zeroed at 27 yards, the lower powered rifles shoot 8.64gr H&N FTT pellets one mil-dot (16X) lower at 55 yards than does the 16.5.
Accuracy?
No Better.
Why?
Diablo style pellets shoot best in the 850fps range.
I know some of the springer FT guys are starting to use 10.34 (and heavier) in competition but they are not Diablo style pellets.

So far I really like the stock....I plan on using JFK for a bench rifle and having the adjustable cheek piece was a big help. After playing with it a little yesterday using different make 10 grain pellets it appears to like the H&N 4.52, H&N 4.50, JTS and one other I have written down. I had speeds ranging from 713 with all the way to 760 depending on the pellet used. Very consistent shot spread with the pellets.

This is a stock rifle I have done nothing to it except clean the barrel.

Testing will continue after the Worlds is done here. Starting today Barbara and I will be at the range every day helping out.
