Air Arms TX200 sticky bear trap ? ask before cant 'seem to deleat ?

my Tx200 sometimes sticks in the beartrap mode , cocking lever all the way cocked , trap will not release , unless i pull the lever all the way down till it bottoms out then releasing the bear trap it uncocks the rifle and i slowly release the tension on the spring returning the lever home . Happens way to much to be comfortable . any body have a fix ?

EDIT: would that be the sear not catching ? it has a very light trigger

I would start with recommendations here. Also, if the mechanism doesn't fully engage you get the same issue. A little more in a spacer/spring length placing things on the margin can be intermittent. Also an overly tightened forend screw on the margin has done that for me on one occasion. It would just clear or not and seem cocked but not be quite there.

The trigger isn't engaging, leaving the anti bear trap bearing the force from the mainspring which, with the export spring, will be 220 lbf, so it won't disengage unless you take that force off it by pulling on the underlever.

There could be more than one reason why the trigger isn't engaging. The factory trigger lubricant can oxidise and gum things up, which I deal with by squirting WD40 into the trigger group, blowing it out with an air hose, then lubricating with light machine oil.

Other reasons for the trigger failing to engage are caused by the manufacturer squeezing in every possible thou of piston stroke, which means the piston skirt coming within a whisker of the spring guide base before the trigger engages. If anything prevents that, the trigger won't engage.

I'd start by cleaning and re-lubricating the trigger group.
