I definitely have one gun that I consider ugly but I can get pass the looks, however there is a few guns out there that I would never buy because I could not get pass the looks and would not want to really have them on my rack.

.......not long ago I turned down a free 1500 bucks gun that they where going to send me for field testing/review because of the looks.

My FX, .22 Bobcat is as aesthetically unpleasant as they come but its accuracy & repeatability is a thing of absolute BEAUTY! It's nice to have "pretty" guns but if they can't deliver in the accuracy department what does it matter? I'd rather have the beauty of dependability & function over looks any day & couldn't care less if someone else might "gag" at my gun's appearance :ROFLMAO:
That's the way I feel. Function way over form! A airgun can be the most beautiful looking gun but if can't shoot worth a dang it's not worth a dang except to be a wall decoration.

Recently I heard an interview with a maternity ward nurse. Where she said that most of the time when the babies “are” cute. They say “what a cute baby”. But when the babies “aren’t” cute? They say “oh, she/he looks just like you!” (the parents). This made me chuckle, well really LOL. I don’t know anyone who would call a baby ugly to a parents face. In the context of airguns we know what can happen if you even mildly criticized someone’s rig. Or don’t like some attribute and voice it. Some shooters take personal offense, like you called their babies ugly. And it might start a negative “back and forth”. But rigs aren’t babies and we ought to be able to say if we find a rig or gun to be unappealing for whatever reasons. Most shooters will adapt somewhat to “their” chosen platforms. So in the end, for me, as it applies to PCPs? All personal preferences are valid, even those based on a perception.
I do not believe what you have described, people taking personal offense, happens.😁

I don’t think @L.Leon point was necessarily about a rifle being called ugly, the ugly part was just a analogy, I think it was any criticism. I will say though that I have always been someone who thought of myself as a a person who values function over form, but am starting to realize how much the looks really do draw me in.

An ugly gun is a lack of effort or cost cutting. It’s true that often form follows function, but for guns that mostly means that it’s got a barrel, bottle, and receiver. Manufacturers can put attractive chassis on these things much like car manufacturers can. Things can get fugly pretty quick!

I’m sure the Airgun world has an equivalent to this car list…

Chrysler PT Cruiser
Nissan Juke
Toyota Prius
Nissan Cube
Pontiac Aztek
Tesla Cybertruck
Infiniti QX80
AMC Pacer
Suzuki XC-90
Ford Taurus

Well bless your heart....
