Air Arms Umarex AirSaber - Pumping air problem

Hello everybody,

First of all, thank you for adding me to this forum. As a new member, I would like to ask you all for some advice.
I bought a Umarex AirSaber a few months ago, and haven't used it since then because I was looking for a convenient air pump. But now that I found one, when I try to pump air in the appropriate compartment, for some reason the air comes out from the tube where we are supposed to insert the arrow.
I would like to know if this is caused by a manufacturing problem or a manipulation error from me ?
Thank you in advance for your help.

you likely need to cock the gun before trying to fill, otherwise the hammer spring will keep the valve open and the air you pump will go right out the barrel.

Welcome Bowhunter, glad to have you. Unfortunately, problem you've experienced is not uncommon when filling air-empty PCP airguns. A valve (pictured) seals air pressure until a "hammer", released by trigger, strikes metal rod allowing burst of air to propel ammo down barrel. Sometimes, without air pressure, valve hangs up allowing air to escape down barrel. Try cocking gun before filling or a blast of SCBA tank air to force valve shut. Hand pumping and compressors usually don't have the airflow to force valve closed. WM
