Hello airgun nation community,
I recently purchased an Umarex Gauntlet 2, 30SL for a great bargain price. This is an extremely powerful, loud, and large air rifle. I am testing out different pellets and slugs and after many tests with multiple projectiles (ex. pellets, and slugs) contrary to my belief that lighter and faster shooting pellets would not perform well I have come to the realization this air rifle shoots the 44.75 grain JSBs at over 1,000 feet per second with relatively good accuracy at to 50 yards and potentially beyond. From my experience, diabolo shaped pellets I know shoot well between 850 and 880 feet per second.
How is it that this rifle can stabilize this 44.75 grain pellets so well at these speeds?
(Note: the heavier 50.15 grain JSB Exacts traveling a bit slower at around 950 feet per second do not perform as well in terms of accuracy)
Thanks,
Aldo
