Umarex Gauntlet 25 cal air leak

I just purchased an umarex gauntlet in the 25 cal version. While trying to fill the air bottle with my hand pump, air is escaping at the magazine insert area. The gun is cocked, per Umarex instructions. Any ideas?

Probably needs the poppet blown shut the first time. Have a buddy with a fill bottle? Another thought is to remove the bottle and fill it to 200lbs or so and screw it back on. Regards, Tom

Pull the bottle and try to fill it...

If you have air coming through the mag slot, you have a leak in the valve. Most likely the poppet isn't seated. Try smacking the action on the side with the heel of your hand a few times while trying to fill it to see if you can't get the poppet to seal itself.
