Umarex Notos Folding Stock

Bummer. I was toying with the idea of putting a cheap folding stock adapter on there. Maybe I could epoxy it to the receiver? :ROFLMAO:

I was leaving all 4 screws out of the grip area so I could quickly remove the stock to put the gun in my backpack but figured it might slip out and fall to the ground, so now I have just one screw in the grip and keep an allen wrench handy for when I want to pack it away. Some kind of a pushpin might work in place of the single screw, to provide a tool free method of removal / installation. The trick would be to find a place to drill a hole where it wouldn't be under my hand or fingers.

Was gonna make my own thread about this but you guys already figured it out lol

Just tried a folder from a mil spec.

Nope! :(

So that's disappointing.

I emailed Buck Rail and told them we want full length Pic rails for the air tube, some people want LDCs but I also told them if they can do a side folder, I'm sure it would sell well.

The reply was that Buck Rail plans to do Notos stuff but doesn't know when. But he said he's gonna forward my suggested products to Terry so hopefully we get support soon.

Is it me or is the aftermarket slow on the Notos? Basically you just find stuff from PP750 that happens to work.

Just buy an M29x1.5 mm die from amazon. Re-thread the male end of the folding adapter.

I'm not a machinist, but I can try to understand thread pitch and size if you help me. M29x1.5 sounds metric so I guess I should have had the caliper in that setting.

Does that M29x1.5 die just cut deeper grooves and/ or make the height of the threads shorter in the male end of the adapter to make it fit the Notos female end? Thread pitch the same just making male folding end a smaller diameter?

Would it be easy to shave down or would I need to put it in a vice and all that? I don't have a lathe or anything fancy. I have a tap wrench but guess would have to get a die wrench too.

Thanks!!

Yes it will cut new deeper threads with same pitch as the Notos female end. You need to clamp the male end in a vise, use some cutting fluid for aluminum. The die is rather large so standard die holder may nut fit. I used a pipe wrench but make sure it's not getting cross threaded. Cut little at a time back out and check, you should be fine.

Thank you for explaining that. I looked on Amazon and seems like there are not many dies in that size to choose from. Most from overseas taking a month to get here lol
I've got pipe wrenches in different sizes. I'd just have to figure out how to hold the male end I'm cutting because it isn't attached it is a short maybe 2 inch long threaded piece with a wider lip to catch inside the hinge part.
Also yes it's aluminum so it'd be worried I'd disform the circle shape in a vice trying to hold the cylinder. I'd have to get wood, drill a hole cut that in half and use the 2 semi circles to hold it..maybe haha

I just checked amazon and your right, I guise guy's been buying em since I posted 2wks ago on facebook notos owners group. Best to use the folding stock adapter from New England airguns, the male end is molded to the block

Yeah it's like a month minimum right now. Not sure if something would change in a bit but August is soonest for me.

You talking about this adapter? https://www.newenglandairguns.com/side-folding-stock-adapter-4604354.html

Would that still need the die to change threads?

No, the one I reworked, I got from eBay. The male end was separate and came with key to tighten to the stock. I had to machine a mandrel to hold it (expanding collet type) so I cold re-thread it.
That's exactly what I currently have, then. I definitely do not have mandrels or anything similar.

You'd think Notos would have more aftermarket support by now, Pic rail and folding stock don't seem too hard to do. Folder harder cause it probably shouldnt be 3d printed but still there's not much out there.

Yooooo I emailed Buck Rail a bit ago and now on his site he says he will be doing side folders with mil spec tubes and also you can get a different grip!!! (Scroll down)
