Tuning Umarex Notos has arrived.

So power is basically the same as a Prod, but less expensive. It will be interesting as time goes on. I worry about barrels as I have been burned by the affordable. 5 Walther barrels and 2 HW, I have become reluctant to buy guns with barrels from other places.

This does check a lot of boxes for me, but may too many that are the same as my 1720. I hate my redundancy rules.

Thanks for the info and keep it coming. Can t wait for people to start taking them apart and reporting wha they find.

Pushing a 18gr for 18-19 fpe is more than my HW95 can do, so this would be very powerful, second most powerful in the house.

I must wait. My handler hasn’t discovered my last two purchases...so far

I received my notos today, this thing is awesome compared to the Jet 2 I have which had no accuracy whatsoever out of the box and is a work in progress. It fits and feels great! I had a problem with the second load of the mag too, but when removed the pellets and reloaded them all was well. I really like this one! Here are some pics and stats. These shot are only 13 yards indoors for now but the attached moderator DOES NOT NEED TO BE REMOVED! She is quite!!

Not saying the jets are bad ,but i did think the notos is way more practical .. maybe you can give more side by side comparison in a thread soon. Jet vs notos ..lol. Id like it .

I do, I have 13.7 and 14.3 crosmans I also wanna try the fx hybrids and I have some griffin 18 grain slugs to try although the owner’s manual says it made for pellets only but we’ll see. The gun feels great in all aspects for $260 awesome. The jet 2 I have does not compare!
I had waited such a long time for the Notos to even be available I almost canceled the order when the Jet2 was showing up. It still looks like it would be a fun compact plinker. But I’m glad I didn’t cancel it now.
Looking forward to seeing what the lighter pellets do in your rifle.

Took the hammer spring and striker out today to see what it looked like inside. It was pretty clean but I wiped everything down with a silicone rag anyway. Played with hammer spring tension and found that it’s best set at about 3/4 of a turn back from full tension. No more fps is gained and it’s wasting air and making more noise.

I used my ears and my FX chronograph to get back to the perfect spot it started out at, but I think a person could pretty much set it without a chronograph just by listening to the shot noise. Set it to full and take a shot, decrease tension some more and take another shot, when you hit the sweet spot there’s practically no noise. Just a muted CHUFF sound.

Is the moderator removable?
My greatest annoyance with GAMO Urban is the permanently glued and poorly performing moderator.
It is not removable, or I guess I should say it’s not intended to be removed. I can say this though, you might find an aftermarket moderator that looks better on it but you aren’t going to find anything that is going to be quieter. The factory moderator is VERY effective.

The whole point for a carbine like this is compactness.

Being able to easily remove and attach the moderator and the stock is a must.
What was Umarex thinking?
Did they have lawyers design a permanently attached moderator?

I have a PP750 (in .177) which has the same action as the Notos.
The Notos has a longer barrel and a tactical stock.

The PP750 is very small and compact, easily put in a backpack.
The Notos is at least 2 times longer (with the hard to remove stock and almost impossible to remove moderator).

It would be nice to be able to remove it just to shave some length off the gun for portability sake.

Great info in this thread, gentlemen.
I agree. If I had my preference it would be awesome to be able to remove it. And honestly if it weren’t so effective I’d probably be going at it to get it off there, but as-is it works great.
I’m sure it was done that way for legal liability reasons.

I’m sure they designed the shroud that way for legal liability reasons. It’s certainly not a deal breaker to me seeing as how the moderator they’ve given it works fantastically. It would be nice if it were removable but… meh… not that big of a deal.
The stock is NOT AT ALL difficult to remove. I mean it only involves removing the 4 screws in the grip, so if a screwdriver with an Allen head is hard to operate then maybe a person would call it difficult.
And the Notos certainly is compact. Much more compact than any full sized rifle.

Are there smaller pcp’s? Sure.
Is it everything the PP750 is? No.
Is the PP750 everything the Notos is? Also no.

Obviously it was not built to be an exact replica of the PP750. It evolved from that. If a person wants a PP750 then they can just buy one.
As a (so far) seemingly nice quality sub $300 pcp carbine I’m pretty certain it’s going to develop a healthy following among airgunners.

I actually wanted to buy the Notos since I read about it one year ago.
I was just hoping that the stock and moderator are easier to remove.

The reason I bought my PP750 in .177 is because I knew that the Notos is in .22 and anticipated buying it.

As a pistol the Notos seems to be very impractical.
The Notos as a pistol seems to be even longer than the Benjamin Marauder pistol.

I received my Notos. Is it normal for a pistol to have a regulator and at this price point?

Well 14.3 crosman premier I get an average of 775 with good accuracy with the .22 hyrids say 630fps with so so accuracy and with the 13.7 crosman domed I get a average of 779 with a good spread and STD but accuracy is off. Also I bet you can put a folding stock on this to make it more compact. I love this gun!! I did adjust the trigger for my liking it’s lighter to me.

What is the distance you are shooting on those groups? The 14.3s look like they are doing really well.
