Tuning Umarex Notos has arrived.

Adding to this Notos thread rather than starting another one...

My Notos arrived a few days ago. My first PCP! I haven't shot it yet but I did pump it up for the first time today and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to hand pump. I used a new Four Uncles pump ($70) and it only took a few minutes. Only the last few inches of the last few pumps were a little difficult and I'm an average-sized guy a few years from retirement age.

Anyone on the fence just do yourself a favor and buy one! Way too good for the price you pay.
Agree with you 100%. I just received my 2nd Notos and have converted it to .177cal. I had made a change over kit in 3 calibers so does not require complete tear down, however it's a pain in the rear having to keep adjusting the scope when changing barrels. I may get a 3rd one for a .25cal project. Right now only issue I had was a rough and gritty cocking of the lever. This turned out to be the hammer spring hanging up on the side of the hammer bore. I cut a lead-in radius so the spring can self center. It's smooth now but I still don't like the geometry of the lever, at the last few mm of pellet probe travel the link arm is getting pulled to the side too much. I'm looking at making a longer link arm and moving the fulcrum back to reduce the angle.

How did you convert the Notos to .177?
What did you have to change: barrel, bolt, etc?

I like my Notos so much that I might buy a second one and convert it to .177.

I had a spare barrel blank in .177, I just turned it down for the breech and cut "O" ring groves. I made a two piece brass pellet probe. The front piece is threaded and you can switch calibers with the barrel. All this is on the Umarex Owners Group on facebook posted by my brother George Barber. I started with 23" barrel and was getting close to 1000 f/sec. I finally settled on 16" which gives me 930 f/sec. on crosman 7.9 gr.

just finished it today, works great, I'm estimating about 300 + shots per fill

I'm considering getting the Notos for one of my farmers to use to eliminate sparrows and starlings that crap on him and his equipment in his shop building. One problem in shooting in this building is not shooting through the tin sides. Even with my lower power airguns I try to get some wood structure behind the shot. Where I am going with this has anyone been able to get a tune to have pellets going between 500 fps and 600 fps. I would like to shoot some 14 grain wadcutter pellets at lower speed. Plus a low power tune should give you more shots per fill. My first thought was to up the regulator pressure to have the hammer have more resistance to the valve opening to lower fps. Has anyone here been able to achieve a lower power tune. Thanks

I’m detuning mine down. Have a softer spring. Still work in progress. Shot my chrony testing Had to Oder a new one.
Ok reg adjustment 1 filled to 240b shot down to 1 on Notos gauge.

i think you should go with a 22ci carbon fiber bottle. Smaller diameter bottle. I really wanted to build the bottle. But I got 5 project guns and not building any more. I need to tears stuff up and sell all the project parts. I sawed out that angle like your gun hate it hitting my wrist all the time.

Can you link me to one of these, I'm having trouble finding one. i can find these aluminum ones https://eastcoastpaintball.com/products/ninja-aluminum-systems-22?_pos=1&_fid=25b1f6c0e&_ss=c , they are supposed 2in/50.8mm. This setup looks pretty interesting and I think I want to try it myself but I'd like to find a smaller bottle like you're suggesting.

Thanks for the response. Looks like you got around 40 shots before you came off the regulator which is very good for 700 plus fps. I guess you did not adjust your regulator but did you turn your hammer spring adjuster to minimum and what type and spec compression spring did you use. Thanks Bill
